Mediawiki extensions

Hey Bushing, would you mind installing the following extensions?

  • Lucene-search - a extension that adds additional and better search functionality.
  • WikiFeeds - An upgrade to the current recent changes RSS feed. It adds many additional feed options, too.
  • Bullet Feed - Creates feeds from bulleted lists. As our current news and releases RSS feeds do not work, this can replace it. It also gives me better control over the RSS feeds for an upcoming change I would like to make to the structure of the news and releases pages.

Thanks in advance. --Blooper4912 22:08, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Did he ever get these installed? (According to Special:Version, no) I have been working on a User:Mjbauer95/Homebrew Browser MediaWiki Extension that allows you to edit the Homebrew Browser from Wiibrew that would be nice to have installed, also --Mjbauer95 22:55, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I installed the Lucerne-search stuff; the other two extensions seem to have bit-rotted, and I can't find your extension :( -- Bushing 21:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Could you update Mediawiki, PHP, and MYSQL? So then you can replace Polyglot with Translate. Randomdude 20:32, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Just an update

I have put my Wii Homebrew File Extractor download link back into the Setting up your Wii for Homebrew page after you deleted it, with a new version that includes the HBC Beta 9. I have also updated my user page to have the new version aswell. Next time though, don't delete my pages without telling me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vortex099 (talkcontribs) 10:50, 26 October 2008

24c³

What do you mean by Bushing made an appearance on 24c³? - Twil

He was an unannounced guest speaker (he stole some time from the other console hacking speaker) at the 24th annual Chaos Communication Congress and made a quick demo of the legendary Lego Starwars exploit (also known as the fake signing exploit). Since then, he has had time to appear as a scheduled speaker at the convention last year.--henke37 17:09, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Blocking Spammer

Good job on blocking 'IUSEDOPENSOURCE', the idiot doesn't know how easy it is to just revert pages before he spammed them! - CCowell125

About the featured section

Just wanted to say that even though it is a nice addition to the main page(kudos to whoevr thought of that), it is kinda getting abused. What i mean is that there should be a lock or something on the featured homebrew part. It has been changed a bunch of times already and its been on for what, 2 days? --ChuckBartowski 04:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Continuation of my Bug Report

Sorry, but I feel it's inappropriate for me to be asked to go to another site, register there to be able to post, give my e-mail address, and have to keep track of yet another login and password. The whole reason I come to WiiBrew was so that I could provide feedback and bug reports for all the homebrew games and things here, on a single site.... And it's not like you'd have to go scouring the internet to find these bug reports, since there was just one, single page here on wiibrew for reporting HBC bugs (which is now locked.... so.... here I am). Continuing from there,

Homebrew Channel/Bugs#Bugs I'm encountering after upgrading from HBC beta 8 to HBC 1.0.2 and 1.0.3

I'm happy to provide a picture of the code dump I get trying to run Helium Boy with HBC 1.0.2 or 1.0.3 with system menu 3.3u

Helium Boy code dump

I hope that can be helpful.

I asked someone in #wiihelp if any of these games were working for them, and they said Helium Boy, Vecteroids, and Wiiero were working fine with system menu 4.0u and HBC 1.0.3

I have now downgraded my HBC to version 1.0.1 through bannerbomb, and every game on my list is now working correctly again, including Hexxagon loading correctly instead of loading DosBox at the Z: prompt.

So my issue with most of the games seems to be a conflict with system menu 3.3u and something that was newly changed in HBC 1.0.2+ Or perhaps something about the hackmii installer.... since 1.0.1 doesn't use that, and 1.0.1 works fine for me.

I also tried disabling the wiiconnect24 and that didn't make a difference with those games.

recap:

3.3u with HBC 1.0.1 = everything working

3.3u with HBC 1.0.2 or 1.0.3 = all those game bugs I reported

If there's any other info I could provide that would help, let me know. Just don't expect me to register on another site.... --Mr. Reaper 19:52, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Mr. Reaper the above dump accures when there's a memory glitch or an overflow, I know this from programming, my suggestion is to make sure that the "data" folder and all of it's contents is in sd:/apps/helium --Elisherer 07:30, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Beril explained that it was an issue with how he wrote his file names and how HBC 1.0.2+ changed the local directory or something.... Talk:Helium boy#Help debugging a crash dump? He released a version that supposedly fixed the problem, but I'm waiting for a new release of HBC before I do any further testing (I reverted back to 1.0.1 and everything works fine). --Mr. Reaper 17:57, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

I was just reading the detailed explanation in the wiibrew forum http://forum.wiibrew.org/read.php?21,18264,18888#msg-18888 about how a bugged libfat and changing the path name from fat: to sd: is the likely cause of these problems, but then why are people who are using wii menu 4.0 not seeing this problem? Well, at least the few people I asked said these games where working fine for them with HBC 1.0.3 and wii menu 4.0.... It just seems to be people running wii menus lower than 4.0 that are seeing these problems.... What is different about using 4.0 that causes these games to work just fine despite the change from fat: to sd: ? --Mr. Reaper 18:22, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Ok... the system menu difference isn't it..... My cousin just brought over her wii with menu version 4.0u on it, and I installed HBC 1.0.3 using bannerbomb/hackmii installer on a brand new SD card, and I tested the same games.... and I get exactly the same results: the listed games don't work, with the same error messages or behavior every time. So I'm perplexed as to why Bushing and other people can't reproduce these bugs.... I get them every time, on 2 different Wiis now.... I know the developers of these games need to update their stuuf, but why do these games work just fine for some people with HBC 1.0.3? --Mr. Reaper 03:33, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

3.2 and 4.0??

How? Or do you have 2 wiis?--ChuckBartowski 04:48, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Via the magic of BootMii and NAND backup/restore. :) I find myself switching back and forth once or twice a week to test things on both versions of the system software. --Bushing 06:59, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
XD. Nice. It must be somewhat inconvenient but i guess thats the only way, until we get Sys menu dual booting with bootmii. :P --ChuckBartowski 01:29, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

MetaFight on #wiidev

Hi there. Botty has me confused with oops-sama! So, whenever I try to join #wiidev I get kick-banned. Could you help me sort this out? Thanks -- MetaFight 22:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

It seems to have been sorted out. I don't know if you did anything, but thanks anyway. -- MetaFight 15:37, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Nickchange?

Hey bushing, could you change my nick to Nathan or when that's already taken to Nathan` ? Tia~ NavadeHo 03:49, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

BootMii Contact

Yesterday and today I've tried emailing to info@bootmii.org , but I got a delivery failure both times. That is the correct email, isn't it? Also I wanted to know if I could donate a different way (via regular mail in the USA) or if PayPal is strictly the only way to donate. Thanks -TPAINROXX/BKW 02:54, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Go to this page http://hbc.hackmii.com and at the bottom click Donate. Crayon 03:31, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I imagine that means PayPal only... well I send much thanks...-TPAINROXX/BKW 05:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

BootMii beta 4 installer

Is there anyway that you could give teknecal permission to distribute BootMii beta 4 installer on the Homebrew Browser? Thanks -Gamewizard71 21:27, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

"Workaround" for Black Screen when loading apps in HBC

I just wanted to make sure this got attention, because it's been mentioned over here: http://bugs.hackmii.com/index.php?do=details&task_id=240&project=6 but it doesn't seem like it's getting enough notice.

If I try to load an app while the net icon is still flashing in the lower right of HBC, it will often just stick on the black screen after the loading bar fills (any app, I think -- FCE Ultra is one I used a lot and saw this behavior with). But if I wait until the network icon stops flashing, then apps will load in HBC 100% of the time.

I have wiiconnect turned on, but I don't actually have a connection to the internet, if that might make a difference. --Mr. Reaper 07:45, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

SQL Crap

i would always love to here what you say bushing, no matter how negative it is XD. but i abandoned that project a long time ago, i will continue it eventually, but for now, its on hold. i took on a more realistic project, a simple wii OS (called WiinDOS Maybe? lol) --Calthephenom 03:16, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Netflix DVD

hey, if you hadn't already noticed, netflix has started shipping the netflix dvd's, i recieved mine today, mind making it an announcement? --Calthephenom 00:40, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Paying for softmod

Hi Bushing, I ran into this site (www consoleunlock com) where you can buy "ConsoleUnlock" for just $37.95. You should look into it to see if everything's legit. Cheers! -- Diego_pmc Talk 16:52, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

That's a scam site that's selling free software such as the homebrew channel. --bg4545 19:55, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

I assumed so, but I know you guys are against people getting money by distributing your hacks, so I thought I'd tell you in case you didn't already know. :) - Diego_pmc Talk 20:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks -- scam at hackmii.com is the email address we're using to track this, but it just seems to be an endless stream of the same thing :/ -- Bushing 21:32, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

There's going to be a lot of angry people out there who paid to "unlock" their Wii, after the 4.3 updated "re-locks" it and the person they paid can't fix it for them.... Bannerbomb was great and so simple to use, but that also made it easy for scammers to sell this stuff. Maybe without bannerbomb, some of the scammers will not profit so much.... --Mr. Reaper 04:42, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Sadly, most of the scammers will conveniently "forget" to update their pages that currently say "works with latest firmware", so it may not actually have much effect. -- Bushing 03:16, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

help

hey bushing, i've decided to reprogram my Wiindows (I'm renaming it the "OpenWii Platform", or something similar), and i just need some help with one part, instead of hardcoded button input, i would like to give it a console interface (like that of AnytitleDeleter, where if you press down, it selects that title, and when you press a, it gives me more options for the selected title), could you give me some example code to do so with? --[[User:Calthephenom]] 20:50, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

"i would like to give it a console interface (like that of AnytitleDeleter[(...] Could you give me some example code to do so?" It sounds like you just answered your own question. -- Bushing 22:09, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Recent Deletions to Wii Web Browser

I think that the page should be kept because the wii's browser is the Internet Channel. Do you think that it's necessary to keep the page? Keyboard mouse 05:02, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
