Der einfachste Weg deine Wii für Homebrew einzurichten ist, den Twilight Hack zu benutzen um den Homebrew-Kanal zu installieren.

Twilight Hack
Der Twilight Hack ist momentan der einzige sichere und öffentlich verfügbare Weg, um Homebrew auf einer Wii verfügbar zu machen. Er wird ausgeführt, in dem ein speziell vorbereiteter Speicherstand im Spiel "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" geladen wird und eine Anwendung von einer SD-Speicherkarte im vorderen Kartenleser der Wii lädt.
In dieser .zip-Datei befinden sich Versionen des Hacks für alle 3 Regionen (USA, Japan, Europa). Du kannst alle Dateien auf deine SD-Karte kopieren, deine Wii wird aber nur die für deine Region entsprechende Datei kopieren und eine Fehlermeldung beim Kopieren der anderen Dateien ausgeben.
Wenn dann das Spiel das nächste Mal gestartet wird, werden Benutzer aus den USA zwei Spielstände laden können, von denen nur einer funktionieren wird. (Der andere kann die Wii aber nicht beschädigen, das Spiel wird allerdings hängen bleiben). Der einfachste Weg herauszufinden, welcher Speicherstand der richtige ist, ist die letzte Ziffer der Seriennummer des Spiel im inneren Ring der Wii-Disk zu notieren. (Die letzte Ziffer ist entweder eine 0 oder 2.)

Homebrew-Kanal
Der Homebrew-Kanal ist ein selbst aktualisierendes Programm, dass Homebrew-Anwendungen lädt und wurde vom Team Twiizers entwickelt. So muss der Twilight Hack nicht jedes Mal erneut aufgerufen werden. Sobald er installiert wurde, können er vom Wii-Menü aus wie jeder andere Kanal gestartet werden.
Homebrew Setup
Requirements
- SD card (<= 2GB, not SDHC) formatted as FAT. (The Wii System Menu, which is used to copy the save, only reads SD cards, not SDHC).
- SD card reader
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that has been played at least once
- Twilight Hack (Download for System Menu 3.3 | Download for System Menu 3.4)
- Homebrew Channel (Download)
Step by Step
- Ensure your SD card is formatted as FAT. By default SD cards are formatted as FAT, so if you're not sure you can skip this step.
- (Optional) If you have an existing Zelda save that you want to backup, do so before proceeding:
- Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
- Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Save Data --> Wii
- Find your Zelda save, click on it, click "Copy", and click Yes
- Put your SD card in your computer, and copy the "private" folder from the card to a safe place.
- Copy the "private" directory from the Twilight Hack download to the root of your SD card.
- Copy "boot.dol" from the Homebrew Channel download to to the root of your SD card.
- Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
- Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Save Data --> Wii.
- Find your Zelda save, click on it, click "Erase", and click Yes.
- Open the SD card and select the "Twilight Hack" save that corresponds to your game region. (hint: save only the right one on the SD at the begining)
- Click copy and then yes. Now exit out of the menu.
- Insert The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game disc and run the game.
- If you have the USA version of the game, load the "TwilightHack0" or "TwilightHack2" version of the game as appropriate (see the table above).
- Otherwise, load the only "Twilight Hack" save game.
- Once in the game, either walk backwards or talk to the man standing in front of you. *do not do anything else, like openining the inventory... or it will freeze you console and you will have to cut power to reset)
- The Homebrew Channel installer should now load.
- READ THE DISCLAIMER! In the VERY unlikely case your Wii should be bricked by the installer, this will let you know where you stand in regards to Team Twiizers.
- Press the RESET button on your Wii. (or button "1" on the wiimote)
- Done!
Troubleshooting
- If you get an error such as Failed to read boot.elf (-1), your SD card may not be formatted as FAT. Try reformatting your SD card with the Official SD Card Format Tool.
