WiiBrew:Featured homebrew/Nominations
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Flark (talk | contribs) at 19:46, 17 June 2009. It may differ significantly from the current revision. |
This page is reserved for nominating homebrew for addition to the Featured homebrew page. Note that an application meeting these criteria does not guarantee it will be added - the final decision will be made by a WiiBrew administrator. Do not nominate your own application!
How to nominate
Please use this template:
=== [[Page name|App name]] === Reason why the app should be featured. -- ~~~~
Remember to add your nomination to the bottom of the Nominations section. And finally, be sure to make the title a link.
Criteria
The application must:
- be completely stable
- contain no major bugs
- be of particular use or value
- be usable by the majority of homebrew users (ie: support for SDHC, PAL, etc.)
- have a quality WiiBrew wiki page (description, usage, controls, screenshots, etc.)
- have a quality graphical interface
- be in one of the following categories: games, emulators, media players, utilities, or loaders
- be HBC compatible and be packaged with icon.png and meta.xml files
- not modify the Wii's flash memory (NAND) or otherwise cause permanent changes to the Wii
Also note:
- This is not a popularity contest - a new application might be a good candidate for this page, provided it meets the criteria above. Other applications, although popular, are not good candidates for this page (eg: Wii64)
- If there are multiple versions of the same homebrew (eg: MPlayer), the most stable and maintained version will be picked
- The final decision about whether an application will be added is made by the WiiBrew administrators
- An application can be re-evaluated for inclusion at a later date
Approved Nominations
Homebrew Browser
This should definately be featured. --Xeron 08:22, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. WaxyPumpkin72 01:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Me too. Its almost a necessary app to have. --ChuckBartowski 00:22, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
WiiEarth
I'd also like to nominate WiiEarth. I'm think it meets all the criteria, but even if it falls a little short, it is a really good showcase for Wii homebrew. My wifes aunt has a Wii for her grandchildren, and when she saw WiiEarth, she got me to put the Homebrew Channel on straight away. I never thought they'd be interested in homebrew. --Xeron 08:03, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. Sums it all up for me. --Pinecone 14:57, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
MPlayer CE
I think the best "Media Center" program, I use it because it has all the features the other mplayer programs combined, easy to use and widely used by the wii owners. --Elisherer 08:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
MahJongg Wii
I'd like to nominate MahJongg Wii for its excellent implementation of MahJongg, its multiplayer, the ability to mix things up with multiple layouts and tilesets and its overall level of polish - it's one of the slickest looking homebrew games around. -- Insin 12:25, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- I second that. --Elisherer 16:36, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's a great game! --Freigeist 15:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- It has my vote --Bitflusher 21:53, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Piero's Wiicross
Great gameplay, great graphics, great music, great everything! It's also pretty accessible. --SquidMan 05:18, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Snes9x GX
Still the best way to relive the snes expierience. -- Deathnomore 06:20, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Super Mario War Wii
This game is a feisty little beast!! I have lots of fun playing it!WaxyPumpkin72 01:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Wiiero
I'd like to nominate Wiiero because its awesome!! It meets all the requirements, except for maybe not having such good graphics XD, but i think should definitely be included! —Preceding unsigned comment added by WaxyPumpkin72 (talk • contribs) 15:38, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Sorry - no SDHC Support :-( cannot be featured --Graingert 17:35, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Giddy 3
I personally think Giddy 3 is an amazingly polished bit of homebrew. Simple controls, well executed, professional looking graphics. It's a joy to play, both gameplay wise and technically. -- Sheepeh 19:49, 30th May 2009 (BST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheepeh (talk • contribs) Revision as of 18:58, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to second this - if only one nomination is required, please disregard this with my apologies. I've recently been introduced to Wii Homebrew, and for me, Giddy 3 stands out. It's also one of the only games my girlfriend likes to play, which must count for something! It's got more polish, humour and playability than a lot of commercial software I've recently played, and has an 'old school' feel that I love. -- CUS 4:04PM, 30th May 2009 (PST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by CUS (talk • contribs) 23:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
WiiPhysics
Still the coolest thing around. --Pinecone 11:13, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Harmonium
Very therapeutic --Pinecone 11:13, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I second the motion!!! :D WaxyPumpkin72 01:19, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Wait, Harmonium isn't already part of our "featured homebrew". Why? It's by far one of the best pieces of homebrew we have.--Arikado 13:26, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Scogger
Cute, fun, and simple addictive puzzle game with decent graphics and amusing soundtrack. Good for all ages, attractive design, and no bugs. --Flark 17:46, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
