There are several cables that allow for VGA output for the Wii. It should be noted that the arcade unit, Revolution Arcade has native built-in VGA output.
Considerations
480i vs 480p
One should purchase 480p if you want VGA output for almost all games, but some games (e.g. Gamecube and some WiiWare[e.g. Megaman 9]) will only work on 480i. This means that if the cable you buy does not support the lower 480i, then the game will likely result in an error upon attempting to boot.
Also, the Wii will not display anything if the Wii is set to 480i beforehand; forcing it to move it back to an YV (if there is one available) and to set it to 480p there. Since the Wii menu is point and click, this cannot be done blindly.
VGA male/female
The output VGA connector may be either male or female, the male end plugs into a monitor. The female end is like a VGA video card connector, and it connects any cable that would normally connect to a PC.
Sound
Beware that not all cables output in Dolby surround sound, most are just stereo. But it depends on the cable.

- EasyView mode does not seem to be compatible with the HP vs15 monitor. (SquidMan's monitor) If someone else has one, please tell if it works for you =)
