Policy#WADs
"Tools to install WADs are also not allowed." should that be "Tools to install fakesigned WADs are also not allowed."? Else WadImport should not be allowed here. LoganA 14:06, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Are WADs like Virtual Console and Wiiware fake signed? Beegee7730 06:02, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- That makes no sense, all Virtual Console and Wiiware games that your Wii has a ticket to are not fake signed. Unless you are talking about warez, then I'll have to ban you. Anyway I'm talking about changing the rule to allow WadImport,
because as the way it's written, it does not allow it.Edit: just saw that change has already been made. LoganA 15:51, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Piracy tools linking
Linking straight to a site that contains a backup loader is against the rules I guess. But what about linking to a site that contains backuploaders after a few clicktroughs? As done here on the website link.

Username Policy
Shouldn't someone mention something about the username policy on the account creation screen? Maybe we should so new accounts can avoid being blocked. Keyboard mouse 23:29, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- It really isn't easy to concretely define the username policy. It's at the discretion of each WiiBrew admin. If a user does choose a username deemed unacceptable, they can simply create a new account with a different one. --Tantric 06:21, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- But a lot of times the blocking admin decides to disable account creation most of the times even if it's not a bad-faith name, so the user cannot create an account with an appropriate name. See Special:BlockList for some examples. Keyboard mouse 03:21, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Do you have an axe to grind, or what? -- Bushing 09:20, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I was just asking if someone would decide to do it or not. Keyboard mouse 03:36, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- No, really. You've posted a whole bunch of messages quibbling over various aspects of the user blocking process... I've never seen anyone express this much concern about an issue in which they had no stake. -- Bushing 05:36, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
- Even if the user uses their IP address to create a new account, their new account will be blocked because creating duplicate accounts is not allowed. It shouldn't be like you can never contribute just because you didn't know about their policy. Keyboard mouse 01:54, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Why do you care so much? -- Bushing 06:54, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- I care so much because it's like an IP address can never contribute just because they didn't know about a policy, and new people don't always read the policy page before contributing. Please note that IP addresses change over time, and we shouldn't indef IPs when blocking them because for that reason. Keyboard mouse 03:52, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's really not so hard to read the rules, sorry. Also, the second half of your message is self-contradictory -- either people tend to be stuck with IPs, or they change over time. -- Bushing 19:43, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- I looked at the Main Page, and there isn't anything that warns them about the policies. If they didn't know about the username policy, they will never be able to contribute until they change their IP address to one that is allowed to edit. Keyboard mouse 20:24, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- You're wrong - in these cases only the username is blocked, not the IP. Regardless, blocking/unblocking is at the discretion of the WiiBrew admins, and a block can be just as easily undone as it was done. Blocking situations are handled on a case-by-case basis and are infrequent anyway - there's no need for you as a user to worry about them, unless you are the subject of the block. --Tantric 22:49, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Still, they are not allowed to edit because when they create another account and edit, their new account will soon be blocked because creating duplicate accounts is not allowed. Keyboard mouse 04:24, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Life sucks, then you die. Are we still talking about this? -- Bushing 05:53, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- No. We have discussed this enough. Keyboard mouse 03:56, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Here, I added that "prevent account creation should typically be disabled when blocking inapropriate (but not bad-faith) account names. I also added this to the policy page. Keyboard mouse 15:29, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Template for Requesting Unblock
What is the template's name that is used for requesting unblock? Keyboard mouse 04:02, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- How would that work? -- Bushing 06:07, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
If anyone can, they can just copy the template from Wikipedia. This template would be useful because if someone feels their block is unjustified, they can add it to their talk page. Keyboard mouse 16:55, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- Anonymous users can't edit any pages on this Wiki, and that's not something we can (or will) change. There's no way they could use that template on this wiki, because they won't be able to post if they're blocked.
- There have been very few cases where someone has been blocked and where I would consider reversing that block -- transgressions that are fairly minor usually only result in a block for a few days (which is not even worth discussing), and violations that are more severe are generally deliberate or malicious, so there's not much room for discussion there, either. If someone gets blocked and they really feel like they deserve another chance, they'd be best off finding the person who blocked them on IRC. -- Bushing 06:08, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
If you go to Help:Blocking users, you would see that there is a way to allow the user to edit its own talk page while blocked, but that option isn't used by default. Keyboard mouse 17:33, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
I can create the template if you want me to. Keyboard mouse 02:25, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds like extra work with no clear benefit. Who cares? -- Bushing 11:23, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Using Multiple Accounts
I'm aware that users can't have multiple accounts, but that is based on the fact that the user would be using both accounts. For instance: what if the users second account is a bot account? Would that still break the rules or are bot accounts allowed? Mailmanmickey (talk) 05:55, 17 March 2023 (CET)
- Bot accounts depend on their purpose and how they are developed. if it is like a discord bot to list changes, it's fine if it is done right. if it is a bot to change stuff on the wiki, then no. not allowed.
- There are no rules set in stone, but it is a bit of a 'use your common sense' DacoTaco
- Alright thanks for the help Mailmanmickey (talk) 08:20, 17 March 2023 (CET)
