Risen: A Fan-Made Text-Based Game is an action-adventure text-based game running on PMC's Text-Based Game Engine and based on the 2009 action role-playing game of the same name.

You are stranded on an island after your ship got caught in a storm. You soon find out that the island is inhabited but also that there are some mysterious things happening on the island. In order to survive you must get accepted by one of the two battling factions: the rebels or the Inquisition.

How to translate

Due to the way PMC's Text-Based Game Engine works, translating this game does not require any kind of reprogramming — you just open a text file and translate the text. If you want to translate the game, first download it, then choose the language you want to translate from. If you choose English, for example, you have to go to RisenTBG\data\text\English\ and this is where you will find the text files; the ones you need to translate are script.risen and credits.risen.

Here's an example of how you should translate, taken from the English and German versions of the game. In the example below the text in bold was the only one not translated; those lines are syntax elements which you can ignore. Syntax elements are preceded by a forward slash (/) or by a vertical bar (|).

English
data\text\English\script.risen

|location=road_beach_hut
/clear
You follow the road from the beach. The jungle looks so beautiful, yet feels so dangerous. At any time a monster could come out of the dense trees.
You see a stingrat! Get ready to fight!
/change_battle:
stingrat_beach_hut
/pause
/end

German
data\text\German\script.risen

|location=road_beach_hut
/clear
Du folgst dem Pfad vom Strand in den Dschungel. Der Dschungel sieht wunderschoen aus, aber fuehlt sich dennoch bedrohlich an. Jederzeit koennte ein Monster aus dem Dickicht kommen.
Da! Eine Stachelratte. Mach dich bereit fuer den Kampf!
/change_battle:
stingrat_beach_hut
/pause
/end

After finishing the translation, you can contact the author on his talk page (User talk:Diego pmc) and your translation will be added to the game as soon as possible.
