there's a disclaimer saying that the code may be malicious, but other than it crashing the system upon transfer does it work without harming the system?

That's on every download page, it's just the common sense "don't run untrusted programs" warning. 198.166.12.229 14:39, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

f_opendir() failed

I keep getting the above error message when I try to use the gamecube saver. It says that there is no folder called gc_saves, but I know there is one. kugkings

Error!

I keep getting "error: f_stat() failed :/". What's up with that?

Yeah, gettting the same error. Shame, I had hoped this would finally be the program to let me actually copy the saves back to the GCN card that I copied from the card using mcbackup (GC homebrew, which also fails in writing the saves back correctly). ~ Pikachu025 13:06, 26 April 2008 (PDT)
Same here, even after reformatting. Has anyone gotten it to work?
Apparently someone got it to work by renaming his zelda savefile from "zelda.gci" to "WW.gci". Two letter names work for some reason?
Oh wow, that worked. File named "A.gci" copied perfectly. Awesome. ~ Pikachu025 11:00, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
Hasn't worked for me yet... I have tried renaming the file to: A.gci, WW.gci zz.gci I don't get the "error: f_stat() failed :/" it shows tons of crap but the gci file i copy doesnt show in either of my gamecube memory cards
Try putting .gci in caps. Worked for me. (Maybe try a different letter?)
I have the same problem; using A.GCI/a.gci/ZZ.GCI all don't work. Tried saving to both A and B using official Gamecube memory cards and still no go. - Synchro
Three things. One, did you delete any existing saves for that game, two, does it show up in data management, and three, did you dry it with different save files/games?
It seems to work for me but it won't copy. It will just bring up this long list of 512 bytes read..........
Mine keeps on saying I don't the gc_saves file, but it is there, with the save in there, named properly & everything.......EDIT: OK, fixed that, but now the file is apparently corrupt. It was a GCI file, WTF?
I'm getting a similar error - I downloaded the .GCI and named it all sorts of things: SB.GCI, A.GCI, S.GCI, and none of them are working. I followed every step of the readme and the program appears to work, but the save doesn't show up on my memory card or when I go to load the game. Really making me mad... EDIT: Never mind, apparently naming it "A.gci" specifically got it to work. If anyone else is having trouble like this, don't bother naming after what the game is, just go with A.gci, capital A lowercase gci. It seems to work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Echo738 (talkcontribs) 05:21, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Source code

You know, if the author released the source code, the community could help write the Gamecube Save Extractor... Just saying :P SquidMan 19:33, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

I know wheres the source code for this? The creator(s) should really release it...

Problem/tips

Problem: I can't get Animal Crossing saves to work. They copy, but the game reads them as corrupt. Other saves work fine.

Tips:This[1] will convert between .sav and .gci saves. [2] (the last post on the page) claims to be able to convert between .gcs and .gci saves.

Also, name stuff in all caps.

New version?

Hello Dasda, I would like to see something about the new version (listed as "future plans"), I was everytime checking this site for it. And I know many of us want it too.

He is working on a new version. Muzer 13:44, 7 June 2008 (CEST)
Really? How do you know?--SkH 09:28, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
I'm going to be a tester; he PMed me on IRC. Muzer 10:04, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
Whoa, really? I want too!!!--SkH 10:38, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
Okay I'm a beta tester too, thanks Dasda! :) --SkH 09:40, 20 June 2008 (CEST)
OK, I haven't been able to find him on IRC for a week. Where is he? Muzer 20:09, 20 June 2008 (CEST)
Yeah, me too, it was just a late reply. I dunno where he is, maybe I pestered him too much? I really didn't meant to. Let's hope the best he will come up again and drop us a life sign.--SkH 13:16, 22 June 2008 (CEST)
He's here, new nick: dasda_ Muzer 14:53, 22 June 2008 (CEST)
Yeah, I cleared up his nick so it's Dasda again.--SkH 09:28, 23 June 2008 (CEST)
Any news on when/if the new version and/or source will be coming out? It's been well over a month. --Flyne 01:17, 5 August 2008 (CEST)

Gamecube to SD?

is there an app that will do this? ---Nathew 23:45, 22 June 2008 (CEST)

The new version will do that, yes. Just wait patiently, like many of us.--SkH 09:31, 23 June 2008 (CEST)
Or you can use a new homebrew called Nugasa[3] which will backup AND restore gamecube saves from memory cards to SD and vice versa. It works wonder for me :) --8v8t8r 00:54, 08 August 2008 (PDT)
I've been waiting patiently but it's been several months now. And NuGaSa doesn't work with official Nintendo memory cards. I would really like to be able to copy GCN -> SD so I can copy my Animal Crossing data to my GCN MemCard that has all the rest of my saves. Then I will be able to give my old memory card to my brother-in-law, who I already gave my GameCube to. Please release an update that works with Nintendo memory cards or release the source so someone else can do it. Thank you! Deozaan 04:42, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
NuGaSa worked with an official gamecube memory card for me. I was able to backup and restore saves. But now it won't anymore, I have tried formatting my sd card, re downloading the app, and deleting everything on my mem card.... Crwys

Problem

I have an Animal Crossing file that I want on my gamecube memory card. When I try to add it, it seems like it works but when I check my memory card it dosn't show up. I already got a metroid prime save to work so I know where it has to be and that it has to be all caps and that it has to be a .GCI file.

Does it support imported Gamecube game? I have a US Wii, and want to use Jpn GC save. Thanks!

GameCube Savefile Websites?

There's a website called wiisave.com which stores Wii saves. Does anyone know of any sites like this for GameCube games? If there was a link to one here, I think it would get more people to download this program and get more feedback about this program. Anthony 13:22, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah. Go to GAMEFAQS.COM. They have .sav and .gci. When you click on an individual game, there is a tab called "saves." Click it.
