Change the list?(1)

Wouldn't it be better to only include the BootMii version and not the stub version and mini version? What is meant by stub anyways? If these are different things to test, the list should have different entries with works/doesn't work for each thing to test. --WiiPower 17:42, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Please add a column for nand backup testing. Some cards seem to work fine in bootmii, but fail to backup the nand. But be aware that sometimes the 1st try fails some some unknown reason, so test 2 or 3 times before posting that it doesn't work. --WiiPower 17:42, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Identify actual SD Card manufacturer

Does anyone know of a way to identify the actual manufacturer of a given SD card? I have some retailer-rebranded ones that really just bloat out the list. I recalls seeing that some PDAs can do this...but can find nothing for PCs/Macs/etc.

Looking into it, it seems there is a "Card Information Structure" that contains the OEM IDs etc. It might be useful to display these IDs in BootMii's info display, or as a separate homebrew utility for those cards that BootMii won't detect at all.

One display I found suggested the following was available:

Manufacturer ID: 1
OEM ID: PA
Product: S016B
Version: 4.5
Serial number: 3026619286
Manufacturing date: 12/2005

Beta 4 tests

There isn't a section for beta 4 tests up yet, but I wanted to say that I've tested both the Sandisk (for Wii) 2GB and the Sandisk SDHC 8GB class 2 cards and both work in BootMii and NAND backups. For the 2GB, speed was 1 second, backup/verify was about 10 minutes; 8GB speed was 2 seconds and backup/verify took about 15 minutes. I also have a Transcend microSDHC 8GB that does not work in BootMii. I haven't tried a NAND backup on it, but I'll test it out to see if it works and update. --Qwertymodo 19:35, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Just tested, under beta 4 using the HackMii installer, a ScanDisk 512mb and Kingston SDHC 8GB. ScanDisk was able to receive formating for BootMii, Kingston SDHC 8GB returned a -1 error. Boot time for ScanDisk was about 1 second, did not try NAND Lego6245 01:55, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

PNY Optima 2GB

Gowame reports this working perfectly, but I've never gotten it to boot. I'll try to get some kind of unique model number off my card, since apparently there are several versions called "P-SD2GB-FS".

My card has "MMAGF02GWMCU-PA" very faintly on the back, and that seems to be a product number. mediapedia.nla.gov.au seems to identify it as a Lexar (but I'm going by the google cache since the site seems to be down). I had success using a 2GB PNY Optima, and have updated the page accordingly to show 1 confirmation. On the back of the card I can make out "SD-M02G" and "0914 TV2452C", if that helps at all. --Logiedan 03:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Gowame reported "S4E3CC02GSCBB" and "0851081204112" being on the back of the other SD card, so it looks like there are 3 different flavors of markings. From googling your markings, it looks like yours might be branded as Toshiba sometimes. --Mu mind 14:42, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
