NOTICE
ModifiesConsole.png
This homebrew application makes permanent changes to the Wii's NAND, thus, this application should be used with caution.

It is recommended to have a NAND backup with either BootMii as boot2 or Priiloader with BootMii as IOS installed before proceeding with the usage of this application.

Overview

StartPatch is a homebrew application that patches your 4.1&4.0 System Menu in a similar fashion as StarFall.

Brick Warning

In the unlikely case that you lose power during patching process, you will brick. This will only happen if you lose power while the patches are being applied, and as this is a quick process, there is small risk of bricking. However, if you do brick, no one is responsible. There is no warranty with this app. You should take a BootMii NAND dump and have BootMii installed as boot2 (if possible) as a precaution.

Non-Brick Related Note

I have only tested the 4.0.4 USA version and cannot say if others work. I can now confirm that StartPatch 4.1 NTSC-U does work mostly.

People will be asking "Why do other regions get higher versions than USA?"

Because the 4.0.4 is the version that works. I have heard about 4.0.6 not copying saves correctly but 4.0.5 (and 4.0.4) do have the correct versions for removing copy protection flags. Also, there is no 4.0.5 for USA that i know of.

Also, some of these hacks don't play well with preloader's versions (same values). So you must either turn off preloader's version or startpatch's version.

Example: preloader can't have "press right on GC pad" while StartPatch has that same hack on.

Features

This is basically Starfall for versions 4.0 and 4.1.

The system menu hacks are:

Region free (including Wii channels and SD Card menu channels)(Region free Wii discs will disable Gamecube functionality.)

Skipping the disk update check

Removal of the health check

Booting recovery menu by pressing Y on a Nintendo Gamecube controller in port 1

Removal of the diagnostic disc check

Force Disc Region

Remove NoCopy Protection

Free movement of the Disc Channel

Can autoboot a game by booting the Recovery menu, pressing Y on a Nintendo Gamecube controller in port 1 and removing the diagnostic disc check

Installation

Just run the app through the homebrew channel and select which hacks you would like to apply by pressing A. You can uninstall the hacks by pressing B. After you select the ones that you like press the save button at the bottom of the screen.

NOTE: If there are multiple patches for the same hack you must install ALL of them.

For instance:

Remove No-Copy Flags 1/1

Remove No-Copy Flags 1/2

Remove No-Copy Flags 1/3

Remove No-Copy Flags 1/4

Remove No-Copy Flags 1/5

Why not Preloader?

Because this wont let the disc spin forever in the the drive. However if you use Preloader for auto-booting to the HBC then sorry, this is for System Menu hacks only.

Requirements

-A way to launch homebrew

-A cIOS rev12 or higher installed for 4.1
