Notice: Many Wii System Updates stop certain homebrew from working. Wiibrew strongly recommends that you do not update your Wii through Nintendo. You can update your Mii Channel with Mii Channel Updater without updating your Wii.

| Homebrew is a popular term used for applications that are created and executed on a video game console by consumers. Follow this homebrew setup tutorial to install the Homebrew Channel on your Nintendo Wii. | You can download applications and games from the large homebrew applications directory. If you would like to install apps and games directly over Wi-Fi in a Wii Shop Channel-like interface, download the Homebrew Browser. | You can start Development on the Nintendo Wii by downloading DevkitPro and following this tutorial to set it up. Also, many development tools exist to simplify coding. |

- 9 December 08: Team Twiizers' The Homebrew Channel has finally arrived at 1.0. Amongst many things, the new version fixes lots of bugs and glitches, and brings more controller options. See the release announcement on hackmii.com for all the details. *UPDATE* Now version 1.0.1. Download Here
- 24 November 08: Team Twiizers has released the Twilight Hack 0.1beta2, compatible with System Menu 3.4 (only). See the release announcement on hackmii.com. Note: Updating your Wii is still not recommended unless there's an immediate reason for you to do so.
- 06 January 09: JustWoody has updated MahJongg Wii v0.7
- 06 January 09: wplaat has released RedSquare version 0.72.
- 06 January 09: Simon Kagstrom has released Frodo version 1, a Commodore 64 emulator.
- 05 January 09: yohanes has released WiiApple version 0.0.5, an Apple IIe emulator.
- 03 January 09: Crayon has released Wii-Tac-Toe version 0.4.
