WiiLauncher is a simple alternative to Gecko OS application. It has most of the Gecko OS features and has additional features for downloading and editing cheat codes.
WiiLauncher automatically reloads and patches IOS 36 so there is no need to install unofficial (patched) or even custom IOS to run the channels (with the debugger or cheat codes) or the rebooter features. Full hardware access (AHBPROT) is used when applying such run-time patches. This access could be obtained by running WiiLauncher application from Homebrew Channel (version 1.0.7 or higher).
Important notes
This wiibrew application has not been tested extensively, use cautiously. Since it writes to SD card (for saving the configuration and downloading cheat codes features), make sure you have a back-up of your important SD card content.
Usage
- WiiLauncher starts at the main menu
- On the top section, it shows whether USB Gecko is available and whether WiFi-Debugger feature could be used (to record the debugging messages when running this application requires having WiFi access and running WifiGeckoReader PC application)

- The configuration or setting information is loaded from or saved to a file "wiilauncherconfig.dat" in the SD card
- Some of the choices in the setting or configuration may not work at all for some games or channels and they have not been tested extensively
- Patch file feature needs a (GPF) file under the "patch" folder in SD card. The file should have the game-id for its name
- Some of these settings could be overwritten by using the "gameconfig.txt" file stored in SD card

- When there is a disc (which could be either a Wii or Gamecube game) in the disc slot, the download list menu includes that specific game
- This application can launch Gamecube game but it runs without cheat codes or debugger features
- Currently it uses geckocodes.org for the source of available cheat codes
Available Cheat Codes List Menu
- Cheat codes (GCT) file is saved into the SD card under the "codes" folder (so the cheat codes could be used when launching the associated game or channel)
- The cheat codes (GCT) file has the associated game-id in its name. As an example, for the Animal Crossing City Folk game (US region), the cheat codes (GCT) file name is "RUUE01.gct"
- In the downloading and processing cheat codes, this application also creates three files ("wiilaunchercookie.txt", "wiilauncher.tmp" and "wiilauncher.cht") which are stored in the main folder of the SD card

FAQ
- What is the meaning of [?] symbol in front of the name of the cheat codes?
The symbol indicates that the cheat codes cannot be used without editing it. One or more cheat codes rows contain non hexadecimal characters
- I cannot toggle that [?] symbol to be either On, [+], or Off, [-]
You need to edit the cheat codes first and once it is done, the application automatically changes the flag or symbol to be Off, [-]
- Can I use this with Wii-U for WiiMode?
Yes, you could
