Post things you want to see in WiiMU (be realistic and no, no ISO loader for you! Also, channel loading is unrealistic, so don't ask.)

The ability to load Homebrew, directly from the system menu. And perhaps IR support so we can just point at the screen rather than just flicking through with the remote. Oh and a more graphical interface. But I bet you're probably already thinking of most of that stuff. Blackprince97 04:32, 2 August 2008 (CEST)
I may add that, but at the moment launching the homebrew channel works just as well ;) As for IR support I will add that after I get graphical support, which I am working on at this very moment. --SquidMan 04:36, 3 August 2008 (CEST)
When you say "channel loading is unrealistic", do you mean WiiMU can list the channels but can't start them? --Mu mind 03:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Great Job...

Great job on doing this. This is the first step into a better OS launcher then the Wii. I guess the disc channel and Mii Channel are unusable in this situation because they are built into the wiiOS? Pinball wizard 00:27, 16 July 2008 (CEST)

It can be set to launch ANY title installed(Weather, Mii, Shopping, etc...), but SquidMan has limited it to what he calls "Regular Channels"( (TitleIDH!=0x10001 && TitleIDH!=0x10002) ). The Disk Channel can't be used like the others(because it's not a channel), but the GeckoOS could be merged with this app to simulate the Disk Channel. (Previous unsigned comment was posted by PaRaDoX.)
I guess if you wanted to go minimalistic with it you could limit it to Gecko Free since it to runs any game from anywhere. Okay, thanks for the answers though. Pinball wizard 00:56, 16 July 2008 (CEST)
Hello Pinball wizard, I actually didn't realize there was no Mii Channel on there :P but yes, if it isnt an actual installed title with the high u32 being 0x10001 or 0x10002 it will not show up. I will look at some other code later to get the Disk "Channel" working, but chances of the Mii Channel being made available are slim (unless someone can tell me where it's hiding!) I heard that Svpe was working on something to launch the disk and patch it at the same time, and I may request him to give me some launch code. Oh, and PaRaDoX, try to sign your comments. Also, the little code you took determines if it is not usable. If (TitleIDH!=0x10001 && TitleIDH!=0x10002) then dont show it. --SquidMan 02:51, 16 July 2008 (CEST)

Possible Glitch?

Whenever I press 'Load Disc' without there being a disc in there, the text 'no disc found, returning to menu' appears. But when it returns to the menu, it disconnects any Wii remote attached and prevents them from being reattached. The only solution is to restart. Blackprince97 04:20, 2 August 2008 (CEST)

Ah yes, sorry about that. I'll fix that right now :) --SquidMan 04:34, 3 August 2008 (CEST)

Crash (Code dump) when attempting to view config (v 0.1a3

I'm using version 3.3 of the system firmware, the only modification to my Wii is the installation of the HBC, which hardly counts. Attempting to view configuration causes a fun code dump.

If you need a screenie of the code dump I can provide it. Other operations, such as launching a channel, loading a disc, etc. seem to work fine. --Thegamefreak0134 07:05, 2 August 2008 (CEST)

Yes, please provide either a high resolution picture, or a complete dump of what appears. --SquidMan 04:34, 3 August 2008 (CEST)
This is a bug in libogc and could only be fixed if you mess with your setting.txt. So just wait for the next libogc patch or code your own stuff to get the values. Crediar

Feature Request: Shift one to the right

Because my TV is so rubbish, it displays the first character of everything off the screen. Would it therefore be possible to add a space to the beginning of every single line? Muzer 11:19, 3 August 2008 (CEST)

First seven channels missed off

Disc (of course), Mii, Photo, Shop, Weather, News and, oddly, Internet, are all missed off for me. Muzer 11:28, 3 August 2008 (CEST)

The Disc, and Mii channel are built into the system menu, and as such won't appear. However I am not sure why those other ones aren't appearing. Mind sharing the TMD of the Photo Channel? Also, which firmware are you on? --SquidMan 00:43, 5 August 2008 (CEST)

No Gamecube Functionality?

It seems to freeze when I try to load a Gamecube game. Are those not supported yet? Blackprince97 20:42, 3 August 2008 (CEST)

Yes, gamecube games are not supported, and until someone reverse engineers enough to figure out how, it won't support them. --SquidMan 00:41, 5 August 2008 (CEST)
This is fixed in the latest github version. --Mu mind 01:34, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Graphics Request

I had no other clue about how to contact you.

How do you want the graphics made? Some specific file format/style? I'm willing to work on these graphics.

--Ys'Rayl 03:14, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Contact me on IRC. I am SquidMan on EFnet. Usually on #hackmii, #wiidev, and #wiihelp and you can get me there. For the file format, I'd like png, and I'd like a shiny style, but I don't really care. Just make it consistent. Just send me a couple examples you were thinking of, and I'll see what kind I like ;) --SquidMan 05:27, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Screenshot

You should post a screenshot of WiiMu, demonstrating what it can do. It's just a small suggestion.

Mirrors?

The hosting has been suspended for all of the WiiMU downloads. --WB3000 21:30, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

They seem to be up again now. --Mu mind 03:05, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Discontinued?

Is this project still being developed? Beegee7730 08:09, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

No. I may eventually rewrite the whole thing from scratch, but right now I'm doing too many other things, and the codebase is a mess. If anyone else wants to take a crack at it, tell me, I can help make sense of my code (hopefully) --SquidMan 08:16, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

If only I knew C... It would looks cool with a GUI... Beegee7730 16:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Text cut off

Ok, kinda nubby question but where in the source would I have to edit so that the text moves about 3-4 characters to the left? It is cut off on my screen. Thanks, Beegee7730 17:26, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

This is a little late, but I had the same problem on my TV and just solved it today. If your TV is less than 10 years old, try googling for the brand name and "overscan" (e.g. see this discussion). My Apex TV had a secret menu that let me adjust it, but some TV's have knobs on the back. --Mu mind 03:08, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Oh, and finally it looks like you already started the copy savegame code :P Beegee7730 17:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Development

I tried to use the latest version unsuccessfully, so I compiled it from source only to find it doesn't run much. I've been editing the source code to get some functionality out of this. Was wondering if it's a general issue with this version or not.Gannon 20:07, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

FYI, I'm also working on getting this up and running. It looks like the libwiiupdate dependency is totally unmaintained now. Let me know if you got anywhere and/or want to compare notes. --Mu mind 03:39, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Still feasible?

It looks like Nintendo's IOS updates have broken a lot of channel- and save-loading functionality. Am I understanding that correctly? Is making a complete replacement for the System Menu still feasible, or will something else need to be reverse engineered before we can proceed? --Mu mind 01:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
