La version 4.0 du menu sytème a été crée le 3 Mars 2009 et distribué le 25 Mars 2009. Il a été annoncé dans Satoru Iwata's GDC keynote.
L'annonce liste ces changements:
- La console Wii peut maintenant utiliser les cartes SDHC (SD haute capacité) avec un maximum de 32GB de stockage.
- Le menu carte SD (qui vous permet de copier facilement des titres à partir d'une carte SD ou SDHC, les exécuter, et de les supprimer) est ajouté au Menu Wii.
- La chaîne Boutique Wii va maintenant permettre de télécharger des titres directement sur une carte SD ou SDHC.

Wii Menu version 4.0 is now available for your Wii console. To update your Wii Menu to the latest version, please select the Update button at the bottom of the screen or select the System Update option in Wii System Settings.
With this update, the SD Memory Card function has been enhanced to support the following features:
- An SD Card menu has been added that allows you to launch a Virtual Console game, WiiWare title, or channel from an SD or SDHC Memory Card.
- You can download games, titles, and channels directly to an SD or SDHC Memory Card from the Wii Shop Channel.
The following channels will also support the use of the high-capacity SDHC Memory Card format.
- Wii Shop Channel*
- Photo Channel 1.1
- Wii Speak Channel**
(*) The Wii Shop Channel has been updated and now includes Virtual Console Arcade. (**) An updated version of the Wii Speak Channel that supports the SDHC Memory Card format can be downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel.
The current version of the Wii Speak Channel will not be able to communicate with the updated version. All parties using the Wii Speak Channel will need to complete this update for continued operation.

The Wii User Agreement, which includes the Wii Privacy Policy, has been updated. Because the updated agreement applies to you and your use of the Wii Network Service, you should view the updated version by clicking on the Wii icon located on the lower-left portion of the Wii Menu, selecting Wii Settings, accessing the Internet settings, and selecting User Agreements.
You may also view the updated Wii User Agreement online at http://support.nintendo.com.
Because unauthorized modifications to save files may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.0 will also check for and automatically remove such save files.

If you've updated your Wii Menu after 3/25/09, you may not need to update again.

IMPORTANT
Save files created by unauthorised modifications may cause damage to your Wii console. This Wii Menu update will detect and automatically delete such files. Please note that these deletion measures will not affect Wii consoles that contain only normal save files. Note: If you have already updated your Wii console since 25 March 2009, you do not need to update again.
