−I've got a Nintendo nunchuk hooked up to my oscilloscope, and I'm seeing that the C and Z buttons work in concert with each other - pressing Z pulls both low, and pressing C toggles the BC bit, so Z is 0b00, C is 0b01, and Z and C together is 0b10.
