== Kernel panic when booting ==

Using Linux I managed to unpack/untar all the appropriate files to their respective partitions, and load through HBC. However, when I go to boot, it crashes saying it was unable to mount anything on root, and gives me the good ol' kernel panic message. What is causing this?
