I currently have a softmodded wii (i.e. no chip installed) and has previously updated the Wii "manually" to v. 4.0u using a guide i found. I'm unsure though if i can update the Wii using the Wii System Update, in the Wii System Menu, without affecting Homebrew Channel and various other wads I have installed? --[[User:Mgarde|Mgarde]] 07:43, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

::Mgarde: I would not ever update through the System Menu, as there will undoubtedly be some homebrew "fix" in every update from now on. Not to mention the fact that a SM update checks for the newest version of every piece of software related to running the Wii, not just the one that the update message mentions. Just do the manual update for 4.1 like you did for 4.0, and you'll be good to go (I know, I did it myself). [[User:Molokai|Molokai]] 03:57, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
