The BaNNeRBoMB hack is a newly released method of loading a .dol file without previous hacking. This hack made by Comex is in its alpha stages and is currently the only way to load .dols in System Menu 4.0. However, the Homebrew Channel installer is not 4.0 compatible, so new installations of the Homebrew Channel are impossible on 4.0. However, it should be possible to install Homebrew Channel on System Menu version 3.X. Comex recommends the use of Loadmii or a similar application with BaNNeRBoMB for launching homebrew on those systems.

The Homebrew Channel is a self-updating homebrew application loader by Team Twiizers which allows users to load homebrew applications without having to run the Twilight Hack every time. Once installed, users can access the channel from the Wii System Menu just like any other Wii channel. This channel can be deleted at any time, and while it does show up in play logs that does not affect the Wii in any way.

*If you get an error such as Failed to read boot.elf (-1), your SD card may not be formatted as FAT16/32. Try reformatting your SD card with the Official SD Card Format Tool. In addition, some SD cards simply do not work with the Twilight Hack, and a new SD card needs to be used. Borrowing from a friend is recommended :).

Requirements
+
+
* SD (or SDHC if you're running System Menu 4.0) card formatted as FAT16 or FAT32.
+
* SD card reader for PC or a PC with one built-in
+
* Bannerbomb channel data
+
* HackMii installer
+
+
Step by Step
+
+
# If your SD card has a private directory, rename it temporarily, e.g. to "privateold". Having other saved channels on the same card will screw it up. (Also, if you don't have any channels on the SD card already, it's possible to skip this step so you can keep saves on your SD card)
+
# Copy the Bannerbomb "private" folder to the root of your SD card.
+
# Take the HackMii "installer_beta1.elf" file, rename it to "boot.elf", and save it in the root directory of your SD card.
+
# Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
+
# Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Channels --> SD Card.
+
# A message should appear asking to "load boot.dol/.elf". If it freezes or does not appear, download the next .zip file from the Bannerbomb website and start over.
+
# The HackMii installer should load. Carefully read the disclaimer, and when prompted, press the 1 button on your Wiimote to start the installer.
+
# After verifying that your Wii can successfully install the Homebrew Channel, press the A button to get to the installer's main menu.
+
# Use the d-pad to arrow up to the "Install The Homebrew Channel" option, press A, then confirm that you would like to install it by selecting "Yes, continue."
+
# The Homebrew Channel should install and the installer should report a success. If you'd like, you may also install DVDx if you are planning on using homebrew that needs it. Do not install BootMii if this is your first time using any homebrew software! It is for advanced users only.
+
# Select the "Exit" option to go back to the Wii Menu. Congratulations, you've installed the Homebrew Channel to your Wii! Now go download some homebrew applications!
