みんなのシアターWii (Minna no TheaterーWii) was a Japanese exclusive VOD streaming service, developed by Fujisoft, The channel launched in 2008, and was shut down in 2012, due to "PC and Mobile competition"[1], Users could rent TV Shows/Movies with Wii Points.

Technical Information

The Channel used PortalBrowser, a method to verify information sent from .do files on the server. The channel, unlike the Wii Shop, supported .MP4 playback, RTSP livestreams, MPEG-2, AAC and DRM encryption via ULEXIT[2]

User Agents

The main browser user agent is Opera/9.00 (Nintendo Wii; U; ; 1038-58; ja), which is the same version as the Internet Channel trial and Wii Shop v7's browser.
The RTSP/1.0 player uses ULEXIT/1.0.0 (Nintendo Wii; ja)
SOAP endpoint requests are made via the standard RVL ECDK user agent

Other

Fujisoft planned video playback support for the Wii Shop, but was ultimately never added[3]
The channel costed 500 Wii Points on the Wii Shop, but it required 1 or more points on the user's balance for it to be accessed.
The channel was marked as WiiWare on the Wii Shop.
The channel used WiiConnect24 to download text to be displayed in the icon/banner, alongside a banner image.
