/sys/boot.sys is a file created by ES_ImportBoot with the size of the new boot2 WAD-like file. It seems to be used by ES if it detects that it is running under boot2 to call IOCTL 3 of /dev/boot2 with this size (which ES_ImportBoot would normally do).
