: It firstly connects to the internet and checks a text file which contains the file size of the boot.dol. If this file size doesn't match the size the user currently has then it prompts the user to update. Then it just downloads the new boot.dol and meta.xml files to the correct location. I have used this program successfully many time launched from the SD card. I now wish to move my HomeBrew to my USB Drive. My first attempt was to have a WBFS partition fist with a Fat32 second on the Drive. That did not work so I tried moving the Fat32 to the first partition. That started to work but each time I Download an App the Wii crashes with a Stack Dump... Can this app run from a Fat32 partition of a USB Drive? Somehow this always confuses me but before I download Homebrew it tells me the size of the Homebrew app and then when I download it, it tells me the download is smaller than what I saw previously. I then figured out that the download is zipped and the file size in the description is the extracted size. Maybe use this format in the description instead? For example the game Alien Breed downloads but is not stored and the ‘download’ button is still available after two attempts.  The Game date is 1970 and so last in the list! I thought it might make a difference if I formatted the SD card from Windows XP rather than Windows Vista, but it didn't seem to make a difference (other than the Vista format took several minutes for an 8 GB card, and XP took a couple seconds).  I'm using FAT32.

:I can't be sure if this is related, but I have issues with corrupted files after using Homebrew Browser. It usually shows up as a bad scummvm.ini, or a bad save game from some other app, so it appears to affect the last files written to the card before Homebrew Browser is run. If I run chkdsk on the card, it recovers copies of Homebrew Browser's settings.xml padded with the word "Test" as lost chains. I also use a USB-HDD with a FAT32 on the 1st partition, with no SD Card whatsoever (my card slot is defective), and I noticed that HBB takes several minutes to update all the app icons. On a friend's Wii, I could see that this process takes only a few seconds, but unlike me, his HBB is in his SD Card. This has been like this since the days of HBB 0.3.5, and as of HBB 0.3.8, it hasn't changed. I posted a sample directory setup on the Categorii page and with that all the user has to do is run the HBB from any section (Please let me know if it is not ok to redistribute?). All that HBB has to do is put the downloads into the appropriate other folders (eg: apps_demos, apps_emulators, apps_games, apps_media, apps_utilities) or into the apps folder if the "other" folder does not exist (because it is being used). It would also be worth moving the HBB data folders up two levels (eg: \HBB| so that all instances can share the data rather than having several copies of it). From the users perspective, they would do virtually nothing - just download and it goes into the category directory if it exists, or just goes to apps. For those with downloads already (like me), they can simply drag the sub-folders from the apps directory into the apps_xxx directory or simply delete then and end up re-downloading

It firstly connects to the internet and checks a text file which contains the file size of the boot.dol. If this file size doesn't match the size the user currently has then it prompts the user to update. Then it just downloads the new boot.dol and meta.xml files to the correct location. I have used this program successfully many time launched from the SD card. I now wish to move my HomeBrew to my USB Drive. My first attempt was to have a WBFS partition fist with a Fat32 second on the Drive. That did not work so I tried moving the Fat32 to the first partition. That started to work but each time I Download an App the Wii crashes with a Stack Dump... Can this app run from a Fat32 partition of a USB Drive? Secondly with the WBFS as the second partition my WiiFlow USB loader would not see my files. But that is for another PAGE.--capple123 02:10, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Homebrew Browser Channel

I haven't done much lately with this but now I have a working compiler again so the installer is getting closer. The channel on the other hand is killing me. Better distinguish between downloaded/HBB apps

It would be possible, meta.xml being an xml file, to insert extra fields into it, without too many things exploding, surely. For instance, it could be possible to insert some hbb specific fields, for instance: <hbb:repository>lukegb</hbb:repository> <hbb:downloaded>true</hbb:downloaded> <hbb:lastversion>xyzabc</hbb:lastversion>

Update all apps

There should be an option to update all apps, and perhaps also an option to turn off the Wii afterwards. This way I can hit the button and go to bed with no worries.--SkiDragon 13:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

File Size Adjustment?

Somehow this always confuses me but before I download Homebrew it tells me the size of the Homebrew app and then when I download it, it tells me the download is smaller than what I saw previously. I then figured out that the download is zipped and the file size in the description is the extracted size. Maybe use this format in the description instead? Unable to download WiiBrowser OPEN

When trying to download my app, WiiBrowser, the "Downloading icon file failed" message appears.
This packageshould have all necessary files (including the icon.png)

jump n' bump not installing correctly OPEN

application says it's done when it's completed downloading but when I look in the installed app section or through the app list it says it has not it also does not show up in the homebrew channel. Game downloads but not installed RECEIVED

For example the game Alien Breed downloads but is not stored and the ‘download’ button is still available after two attempts. The Game date is 1970 and so last in the list! Homebrew browser Wii Error:: RECEIVED

I currently downloaded Homebrew to my Wii Installed The Homebrew Browser... The Little Globe Comes on To tell me im connected to the intrenet, When i connect to the intrenet through homebrew browser it connects succsessfully then it tells me : Finding www.codemii.com's ip adress. then it errors and says unable to find ip adress using stored one or somthing. and it sits there for like thirty miniutes and never moves... please help C.j Allen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiihakks101 (talk • contribs) 11:52, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm having the exact same issue. www.codemii.com is accessible from my laptop, but not from the Homebrew Browser. Thinusp 08:57, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Error Codes OPEN

Corrupted Icon Image OPEN

The image on NewoShooter 1.26 crashes the homebrew browser when I select it from the list. When selected the image appears corrupted under the game title, then the application locks up. I'm not sure if its because I created it with microsoft paint in windows Vista. I have the latest version of HBB and 4.3 install on my normal wii. Owen 02:04, 16 January 2011 (CET)

The image seems ok it's just URL text goes over the buffer I had set, I've corrected it now, it should be fixed in 1-2 days (because of server cache). --Teknecal 14:18, 17 January 2011 (CET)

Queue Bug? RECEIVED

I found a minor bug that you could fix in 0.3.9. If you add an app to queue then open up the "Download/Delete Queue" page, the app you selected will be there. But if you delete it from the list (By pressing -) and open the Download/Delete Queue page again, the name and short description will still be there, but not the icon. USB-HDD works, but icon download is extremely slow compared to SD RECEIVED

I also use a USB-HDD with a FAT32 on the 1st partition, with no SD Card whatsoever (my card slot is defective), and I noticed that HBB takes several minutes to update all the app icons. On a friend's Wii, I could see that this process takes only a few seconds, but unlike me, his HBB is in his SD Card. This has been like this since the days of HBB 0.3.5, and as of HBB 0.3.8, it hasn't changed. In spite of this, HBB works as expected, and code dumps are rare, but do occur, occasionally. --Friiloader 23:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Hangs at Parsing Homebrew List RECEIVED

Any time I try to use a repo other than codemii it hangs at Parsing Homebrew List. If I hit 2 it says "Reverting to CodeMii.com repository." but hangs there. I've tried all of the repos at least 5 times, every time changing the settings back manually, or just replacing the folder in app entirely. One time Lukegb's loaded fine, I didn't do anything different. 4068401 21:50, 3 October 2010 (CEST)

I can't get the HBB to work! RECEIVED

When I load the HBB app everything works except that when I click 'Download' it just freezes and nothinhg happends. How do i fix this? --Boondox 23:02, 1 September 2010 (CEST)

Can you try removing all other controllers apart from the Wiimote and remove any USB devices you might have? If that doesn't work, can you try and format you SD card after you back it up? --Teknecal 10:41, 2 September 2010 (CEST)

Something Horribly Wrong

Nothing works at all as of today (7 November 2010). Doesn't function properly on 2 different Wii's, writing to SD or to USB drive. Updates seem to be coming from an incorrect server and are out of date, and don't even extract properly. Functionality utterly broken at the moment. Dashxdr 18:29, 7 November 2010 (CET)

Not sure what the underlying cause is. When I try to update Pacman through the HBB it installs 1.01, not the latest 1.03. Dashxdr 22:12, 7 November 2010 (CET)

The issue was on our server. In this case, yep you should zip it up as "pacman" but I'll always double check folders from now on. --Teknecal 10:50, 9 November 2010 (CET)
One other note, the HBB seems to scan the VFAT partition on my USB hard drive before it does anything. I've got thousands of files on it so it takes a LONG time. It would be great if this "feature" could be turned off. HBB ought to just snoop around the apps tree and nothing else. Dashxdr 20:14, 8 November 2010 (CET)
I think it's because of the free space function as it uses statvfs("usb:/",&fiData) to get the block size, blocks free and blocks total. You can turn this off in Settings -> Show SD card space & Check free space. Just to confirm does this happens when HBB first loads the GUI? Let me know if turning off those settings helps? Also is there a quicker way than using statvfs? --Teknecal 10:50, 9 November 2010 (CET)
You're right, turning off the check free space + show free space fixes the long pause when the HBB is first launched. But still for some reason there is a long delay during the extraction of any downloaded app, no matter how small. I'm just using a USB hard drive, there is no SD card installed at all. Mod file is not played

In the last release (0.3.9e) the loop.mod file is not played. The mod support seems broken. Ogg files are instead played. Oibaf 01:00, 5 December 2014 (CET)
