Could you tell me how you got the HBB to update it self?--HUN73R /\/\. 03:28, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
 +
: It firstly connects to the internet and checks a text file which contains the file size of the boot.dol. If this file size doesn't match the size the user currently has then it prompts the user to update. Then it just downloads the new boot.dol and meta.xml files to the correct location. There is a download example here: Homebrew Browser#NetSend Example + HTTP Download Example

I have used this program successfully many time launched from the SD card. I now wish to move my HomeBrew to my USB Drive. My first attempt was to have a WBFS partition fist with a Fat32 second on the Drive. That did not work so I tried moving the Fat32 to the first partition. That started to work but each time I Download an App the Wii crashes with a Stack Dump... Can this app run from a Fat32 partition of a USB Drive? Secondly with the WBFS as the second partition my WiiFlow USB loader would not see my files. But that is for another PAGE.--capple123 02:10, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

The "updated" version and my original version were the same, just compiled by 2 different people. So really it's not an update, just an alternate version. You may keep it as is, but I just thought I'd point it out. I had no idea it was being released on GBATemp. --bg4545 03:10, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Homebrew Browser not updating icons as usual in v0.3.3
+
Better distinguish between downloaded/HBB apps
 +
It would be possible, meta.xml being an xml file, to insert extra fields into it, without too many things exploding, surely. For instance, it could be possible to insert some hbb specific fields, for instance:
 +
<hbb:repository>lukegb</hbb:repository>
 +
<hbb:downloaded>true</hbb:downloaded>
 +
<hbb:lastversion>xyzabc</hbb:lastversion>

After autoupdating to latest Homebrew Browser, the icons are no longer updating as usual (after loading it usually searches for newer icons for programs). Please check this error. <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by Werewolferx (talk • contribs) 22:21, 5 August 2009 (UTC)</small>

Replace the wii zapper icon for apps with a button called "more peripherals" that has information such as usb support. --Toagac 12:33, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
One of the things that go wrong seems to be related to the fact that uae/uaerc is in fact created as uae/uaerc/ instead, thus making the emulator fail the boot up due to missing configurationf file. Hoping this to be useful, --Erik Bauer 08:25, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
+
: I'm hoping to have a little arrow to move the icons to the left so you can scroll through them. --Teknecal 00:44, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
: I see. It appears that because there isn't any extension to the file name, that when unzipping it thinks it's a folder. I've tried using ftpii to transfer it across and it also fails, thinking it's a folder. Will need to investigate. --Teknecal 09:06, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Somehow this always confuses me but before I download Homebrew it tells me the size of the Homebrew app and then when I download it, it tells me the download is smaller than what I saw previously. ::::::::A password makes no sense.  Your argument about CC pins makes no sense.  Publishing the password makes no sense.  What you're suggesting is limiting access to a tab by implemented an undocumented password.  Then end result will be hundreds of people googling where to get this password and, within days, forums will be filled with the answer (and loads of GBAfail).  If your little brother can shake a wiimote he can google HBB password.  This effectively turns your password into an elaborate (and annoying) "Are you sure?" dialog.  If we're creating fancy dialogs, why not actually use an "Are you sure?" dialog with a brief explanation of the dangers of the action and a timeout before the answer buttons activate so the user has to read it.  Show this dialog every time a user queues up an application from the "dangerous" tab... or better yet, don't host dangerous apps.  If you're smart enough to use the dangerous apps, you're smart enough to install them yourself. -- MetaFight 11:41, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Unable to initialize FAT subsystem
I just installed Homebrew (1.0.3, IOS61 v19.26) and also the Homebrew browser last night for the first time. I've been experimenting with this error message I keep getting when I start the Homebrew Browser: Unable to initalize FAT subsystem, exiting.

At first I thought it had something to do with files left over from the Homebrew installation. So I deleted the boot file and the "private" folder, and the Homebrew Browser started up.  Problem solved!  Well, no....

However, the problem returns after running certain apps.  Double Dash Wii, for example, always crashes when I attempt to start a game, and after that Homebrew Browser will fail to run.  WiiXplorer is another example of an app that causes Homebrew Browser to fail to run.

I thought it might make a difference if I formatted the SD card from Windows XP rather than Windows Vista, but it didn't seem to make a difference (other than the Vista format took several minutes for an 8 GB card, and XP took a couple seconds).  I'm using FAT32.

The image on NewoShooter 1.26 crashes the homebrew browser when I select it from the list.  When selected the image appears corrupted under the game title, then the application locks up.  I'm not sure if its because I created it with microsoft paint in windows Vista.  I have the latest version of HBB and 4.3 install on my normal wii.  Owen 02:04, 16 January 2011 (CET)

Queue Bug?
I found a minor bug that you could fix in 0.3.9.
 +
If you add an app to queue then open up the "Download/Delete Queue" page, the app you selected will be there. But if you delete it from the list (By pressing -) and open the Download/Delete Queue page again, the name and short description will still be there, but not the icon. Again a very minor bug, but one that should be fixed.

I also use a USB-HDD with a FAT32 on the 1st partition, with no SD Card whatsoever (my card slot is defective), and I noticed that HBB takes several minutes to update all the app icons. On a friend's Wii, I could see that this process takes only a few seconds, but unlike me, his HBB is in his SD Card. This has been like this since the days of HBB 0.3.5, and as of HBB 0.3.8, it hasn't changed. In spite of this, HBB works as expected, and code dumps are rare, but do occur, occasionally. --Friiloader 23:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

I posted a sample directory setup on the Categorii page and with that all the user has to do is run the HBB from any section (Please let me know if it is not ok to redistribute?). All that HBB has to do is put the downloads into the appropriate other folders (eg: apps_demos, apps_emulators, apps_games, apps_media, apps_utilities) or into the apps folder if the "other" folder does not exist (because it is being used). It would also be worth moving the HBB data folders up two levels (eg: \HBB| so that all instances can share the data rather than having several copies of it). From the users perspective, they would do virtually nothing - just download and it goes into the category directory if it exists, or just goes to apps. For those with downloads already (like me), they can simply drag the sub-folders from the apps directory into the apps_xxx directory or simply delete then and end up re-downloading

Nothing works at all as of today (7 November 2010). Doesn't function properly on 2 different Wii's, writing to SD or to USB drive.  +
:::One other note, the HBB seems to scan the VFAT partition on my USB hard drive before it does anything. I've got thousands of files on it so it takes a LONG time. It would be great if this "feature" could be turned off. HBB ought to just snoop around the apps tree and nothing else. Dashxdr 20:14, 8 November 2010 (CET)
 +
:::: I think it's because of the free space function as it uses statvfs("usb:/",&fiData) to get the block size, blocks free and blocks total. You can turn this off in Settings -> Show SD card space & Check free space. Just to confirm does this happens when HBB first loads the GUI? Let me know if turning off those settings helps? Also is there a quicker way than using statvfs? --Teknecal 10:50, 9 November 2010 (CET)
 +
:::You're right, turning off the check free space + show free space fixes the long pause when the HBB is first launched. But still for some reason there is a long delay during the extraction of any downloaded app, no matter how small. I'm just using a USB hard drive, there is no SD card installed at all. Questions

Could you tell me how you got the HBB to update it self?--HUN73R /\/\. 03:28, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

It firstly connects to the internet and checks a text file which contains the file size of the boot.dol.

Homebrew Browser Channel

I haven't done much lately with this but now I have a working compiler again so the installer is getting closer. The channel on the other hand is killing me. I am stuck with getting weird debug info like HBB used to give. Any help on how to read those Teknecal? Pinball wizard 01:19, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Does it say like debug [1] Not owner? I think that the fix is to format the SD card. --Teknecal 13:19, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
It isn't debug info I put it wrong. I meant to say Code Dumps. It looks to be all hex code. Check your pms too. Pinball wizard 19:06, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
The installer is getting closer. I have all the code checking out okay but I think that my development environment is having problems. Closer now though. Still have the channel issues. Hoping to maybe release before I die, lol. Pinball wizard 19:35, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm now doing debugging on the installer. If I can figure the channel issue out and approval from Teknecal, I should release soon.*@Teknecal, The issue with the channel is that it shows the kind of code dump as what you have at the end of your 1 year anniversary video. I am going to add in some debug code to see if it is the channel launch code or HBB code. Do you know what IOS HBB runs on? Pinball wizard 20:39, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm cleaning up code for the installer now, commenting out debug info and about to lock down the installer to the final channel pieces now instead of anything you want. I need to put some placeholder logo spots and finish recoding the code for the channel. I have a list of testers and should be ready to beta test in a week. @Teknecal, Don't worry about anything with your app just yet. I think I found the issue in the channel launching check your pms for details on it. After beta tests I will shoot you up for approval and I should have release 1.0 out very soon. I'll do something like searching by letter, e.g. A, B, C will bring you directly to those applications. --Teknecal 04:55, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Better distinguish between downloaded/HBB apps

It would be possible, meta.xml being an xml file, to insert extra fields into it, without too many things exploding, surely. For instance, it could be possible to insert some hbb specific fields, for instance: <hbb:repository>lukegb</hbb:repository> <hbb:downloaded>true</hbb:downloaded> <hbb:lastversion>xyzabc</hbb:lastversion>

Update all apps

There should be an option to update all apps, and perhaps also an option to turn off the Wii afterwards. This way I can hit the button and go to bed with no worries.--SkiDragon 13:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Can you ping codemii.com from your PC in the same network? -Charlatan 01:09, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm having the exact same issue. www.codemii.com is accessible from my laptop, but not from the Homebrew Browser. Thinusp 08:57, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Can you try using a different DNS server in your Wii settings? --Teknecal 13:39, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Error Codes OPEN

Probably not the right section, but I keep getting the error codes -81, -27 and -22, could a list be made so that users can identify their meaning? --ColdPerson 14:17, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Corrupted Icon Image OPEN

The image on NewoShooter 1.26 crashes the homebrew browser when I select it from the list. When selected the image appears corrupted under the game title, then the application locks up. I'm not sure if its because I created it with microsoft paint in windows Vista. I have the latest version of HBB and 4.3 install on my normal wii. Owen 02:04, 16 January 2011 (CET)

The image seems ok it's just URL text goes over the buffer I had set, I've corrected it now, it should be fixed in 1-2 days (because of server cache). --Teknecal 14:18, 17 January 2011 (CET)

Queue Bug? RECEIVED

I found a minor bug that you could fix in 0.3.9. Keep up the good work!--Jrcolonial98 19:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

USB-HDD works, but icon download is extremely slow compared to SD RECEIVED

I wonder if v0.3.9a is better now? Teknecal 09:44, 31 October 2010 (CET)

Hangs at Parsing Homebrew List RECEIVED

Any time I try to use a repo other than codemii it hangs at Parsing Homebrew List. If I hit 2 it says "Reverting to CodeMii.com repository." but hangs there. I've tried all of the repos at least 5 times, every time changing the settings back manually, or just replacing the folder in app entirely. One time Lukegb's loaded fine, I didn't do anything different. 4068401 21:50, 3 October 2010 (CEST)

I've removed the 2 non-working repos. Teknecal 09:44, 31 October 2010 (CET)

I can't get the HBB to work! RECEIVED

When I load the HBB app everything works except that when I click 'Download' it just freezes and nothinhg happends. How do i fix this? --Boondox 23:02, 1 September 2010 (CEST)

Can you try removing all other controllers apart from the Wiimote and remove any USB devices you might have? If that doesn't work, can you try and format you SD card after you back it up? --Teknecal 10:41, 2 September 2010 (CEST)

Something Horribly Wrong

Nothing works at all as of today (7 November 2010). Doesn't function properly on 2 different Wii's, writing to SD or to USB drive. Updates seem to be coming from an incorrect server and are out of date, and don't even extract properly. Functionality utterly broken at the moment. Dashxdr 18:29, 7 November 2010 (CET)

Not sure what the underlying cause is. When I try to update Pacman through the HBB it installs 1.01, not the latest 1.03. Dashxdr 22:12, 7 November 2010 (CET)
Seems like pacman was under the folder "Pacman", I changed it back and it should work now. --Teknecal 09:51, 8 November 2010 (CET)
That fixed it, thanks. Was the issue on my end? When I upload a new zipfile, should the directory be named "pacman" and not "Pacman"? Anyway feel free to delete this entire incident from this talk page. Dashxdr 13:41, 8 November 2010 (CET)
The issue was on our server. In this case, yep you should zip it up as "pacman" but I'll always double check folders from now on. --Teknecal 10:50, 9 November 2010 (CET)
One other note, the HBB seems to scan the VFAT partition on my USB hard drive before it does anything. I've got thousands of files on it so it takes a LONG time. It would be great if this "feature" could be turned off. HBB ought to just snoop around the apps tree and nothing else. Dashxdr 20:14, 8 November 2010 (CET)
I think it's because of the free space function as it uses statvfs("usb:/",&fiData) to get the block size, blocks free and blocks total. You can turn this off in Settings -> Show SD card space & Check free space. Just to confirm does this happens when HBB first loads the GUI? Let me know if turning off those settings helps? Also is there a quicker way than using statvfs? --Teknecal 10:50, 9 November 2010 (CET)
You're right, turning off the check free space + show free space fixes the long pause when the HBB is first launched. But still for some reason there is a long delay during the extraction of any downloaded app, no matter how small. I'm just using a USB hard drive, there is no SD card installed at all. Mod file is not played

In the last release (0.3.9e) the loop.mod file is not played. The mod support seems broken. Ogg files are instead played. Oibaf 01:00, 5 December 2014 (CET)
