::::::: Well, we are looking good. I have a test channel up and running pretty good. I tried to download something and it code dumped but I think that was a hiccup on HBB not the channel. I will need to do some artwork clean-up and rearrangement so that it looks better (for the test I took the .psd  and converted it straight to a .png for testing). I also need to adjust the llop point in the audio as right now it sounds like it is a scratched CD at the end-of-loop point. Once the images are properly I am hoping to shrink the size of the channel as it is currently 28 blocks (6.33MB). The installer is about half way through being programmed. The only thing I have to ask is that you keep a standard on the folder name for HBB. @Ensign R, no worries, the ticket name for this is HBB3. :::::::: HUGE UPDATE!!!!! I fixed the code dump issue (it was on me, all in method of loading HBB). The artwork for the channel is done and the only thing I need some help is with the music loop. I am trying to cut it at 15 seconds in (right after the bells stop) but I can't get a precise enough "chop" to make it sound right. If you can get that to sound good the channel will be visibly functional (but I am going to check the dpi as I think it is set above 72 (SD quality). I found a better method in how to launch HBB where it doesn't require any external files or anything but I am fighting my compiler on that. The installer is mostly ready for alpha tests but if you see in the forums I am fighting compiler issues. Once it is compiled I need to look at some debug information, then we are ready for beta testing i.e. see if we brick peoples' wiis running other systems (just kidding). I will need people to test out if this works on 3.2,3.4, and 4.0 wiis as my system version is 3.3. I am thinking that you (tecknecal) can get this for you to approve by thursday if I get the installer compile problem fixed. I think it is my "environment" that is the issue, so I am off to uninstall and reinstall. [[User:Pinball wizard|Pinball wizard]] 21:22, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Apps

Wanted Apps

If you want an app added, list it in the following format:

*[[Page name|App name and version]]
Should this be added? Is it safe? --Teknecal 12:42, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I think, but with an option to see or not unsafe apps. --Sca.nab 08:25, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
So you're saying it's safe, yet it should be listed in an optionally hidden "unsafe" category? -- MetaFight 02:44, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Don't think I can? http://bootmii.org/download says "All rights reserved. You may not sell or redistribute this software." --Teknecal 12:42, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
You should ask to Bushing --Sca.nab 12:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Whoever asked for it to be included should ask Bushing. -- MetaFight 02:44, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Questions

LibGameLoad

"Game Load" is a utility listed in HBB. Really, it's a demo for libgameload. Is the source code for libgameload anywhere? I can't seem to find it or the demo anywhere but HBB. This looks like something I want to play around with, but it doesn't seem to exist. Anyone have details? Bobpaul

I don't believe the source is available but here is a thread that the author has replied in: http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?p=44500. Also the author has their own website at http://www.cashman-productions.fr.nf. --Teknecal 23:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

DVD-X

Does the DVD-X Installer download come with PatchMii so it can install the patchmii version for modchip users? or is patchmii a seperate app you have to install altogether?

PatchMii is a separate application for modchip users which can be found here: http://hackmii.com/2008/08/libdi-and-the-dvdx-installer/ --Teknecal 08:46, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Message Board

I quote this from the Homebrew Channel/Bugs page " but I prefer to leave my WiiConnect24 on, as I get messages from Nintendo and the Homebrew Browser, and I like to be notified when they arrive." Is it true that HBB gives out notices? If so I have yet to receive one. Pinball wizard 00:09, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes it's true but firstly you need to add hbb@codemii.com to your Wii address book. A few days later you'll get a confirmation email and then an email when applications have been updated. --Teknecal 08:42, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

The HBB used to work fine,, But i don't know what i did, patch mii dvdx maybe?(thats the only thing i can think of. but now the HBB doesn't work... it says connecting to server, server connected now loading homebrew browser and then it restarts homebrew channel. Or if it can't connect it says error (i am not home now so am not sure but i think error-ret 115) and it says retrying (infinately until i get a code dump error.) any Idea how i could fix this? Thanks Durda Dan Feb 20. 2009

Why do you have to wait a few days before HBB accepts your message board request? You don't have to do it manually do you? You should look into automating it. -- GamingMedley.com 04:02, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

It is manually done. I haven't made it automatic as some people do send messages to this email address and there are various formats/languages of friends requests. --Teknecal 10:20, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Homebrew Browser Channel

I am assuming this is legal (please correct me if I am wrong) as long as I get your permission FIRST, would you like the HBB to become a Channel made using Benzin? I would make the installer and channel and such. How interested are you? I know a few people have illegally made this with copyrighted banners and such so I see it as if you provide it, then there is no need for people to illegally make/use it. Pinball wizard 18:38, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Sure, let me know how it goes. --Teknecal 00:38, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I'll get on it ASAP. Hope to have something by tuesday. We'll have to see how it goes. Pinball wizard 02:03, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Do you have a graphics package of photoshop files or illustrator files perhaps? I will at least need your biggest image of your logo. Lastly, I'm going to need the loop.mod file from the app in some more "common" file type. I should have the installer part done (without proper graphics) soon and the channel part just needs the artwork and then I can get you a alpha or beta version for you to preview while I clean-up debug info and clean-out unused code. Pinball wizard 03:41, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I have Photoshop, here is the HBB logo: http://www.codemii.com/hbb.psd. Here is the loop.mod file as an mp3: http://www.codemii.com/loop.mp3. There's no rush :) --Teknecal 11:55, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Suggestions/Comments

LAN "Virtual Server"

It'd be cool if it was possible to create a "virtual server" for HBB on your LAN. I have 3 wii's, and it takes forever on my internet connection to download stuff from codemii.com (heck, the domain takes almost a minute to resolve when I start HBB). On the other hand, i can transfer a 528MB bootmii nand dump in about a minute between systems on the network.

What I'm proposing is that I can download applications/updates to apps to one Wii (thereby waiting only once for your servers), and designate that wii as a server. HBBs on the other wii's on my network can be pointed to that wii via IP address, and can receive the updated software from it, without ever going out to codemii.com.

For instance, all 3 of my wii's have FTPii, SNES9x, and some others on them. With this, I would download the updates to one wii from codemii, and tell the other wii's to get it from the one i updated. At the speeds i mentioned above, a few apps like SNES9x and ftpii should update in about 15 seconds from something on my network. I currently wait almost 15 minutes per wii to download updated apps, even if i do it at 1:00am on Saturday mornings!

Sorry for the lengthy suggestion... Techboy 22:34, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

It does sound like a fine suggestion, when I did use the SVN libfat, downloading and extracting did speed up however when downloading from codemii things can go a bit slowish (50 KB/s) at times. What concerns me is that it takes 1 minute to resolve the codemii domain, this should only take 1 to 3 seconds at most. --Teknecal 11:21, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
The site loads fine on my computer most times - typically resolves in under 5 and loads in about 15 seconds. It is something to do with HBB, as all of my wii's experience it, regardless of wireless signal strength, and no other wireless app has problems (such as anything patchmii based, like WiiSCU).
If you do plan to implement this, the other wii's should show a catalog of all the software available on the server wii to give users a choice of what new (not already installed) stuff will install and what old stuff will update, since some people may not want all the software on the server wii on every "client" wii, or may want to update only certain apps with new versions, while keeping other ones with old stuff. (I have an SNES game that needs a separate version of 9x to run...GX code-dumps loading it but the old version runs it fine.) --Techboy 20:05, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Options to see "unsafe apps"

It would be great to have an option to see or not "unsafe apps" deliberately not included in HBB like WiiSCU or Starfall. --Sca.nab 12:39, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Download to USB support

Since HBC 1.0.2 is out and it has USB support, it would be cool to add support to save to the USB drive. When you'd download an app, it'd ask if you want to save in the SD card or USB drive. It could also be made default from a settings menu. And when no SD card would be detected, it'd automatically download to USB and vice-versa. RedChaos 03:12, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Info when downloading

When downloading, I'd like HBB to say how much it has downloaded/what is left to download, and the transfer speed in KB/Sec. Wack0(t/c) 08:35, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Totally agree! Would be most helpful TwoBladedKnight 11:22, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Ability to play .xm files as well as .mod for music

I know there are more important issues, but I'd like to see HBB able to play .xm so that I can have a certain awesome song (Unreeeal Superhero 3) as the music. Xero 02:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Homebrew Channel Banner updating with latest Homebrew

This is a bit of a lot to ask and probably not possible due to the Homebrew Channel developers lack of openness, but I think it would be cool if the Homebrew Browser would update the Homebrew Channel's banner according to new Homebrew apps, similar to the Wii Shop Channel. I do not expect this to actually happen but just to get a suggestion out there just in case :). --Mjbauer95 00:41, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

That would require a new release of the HBC which, if I understand correctly, will soon be deprecated. So, don't hold your breath. Also, don't accuse the HBC devs of lacking openness. Try, instead, to be appreciative. -- MetaFight 02:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Currently the development of such a channel banner is not possible. We do not currently understand how it works to do such a thing. Pinball wizard 23:21, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Easy Access

Is it possible to make a channel of this for the system menu for easy access to the HBB. This way it could be like the Wii Shop Channel. Thanks! OJ

The difficulty with this is extra code (not too difficult, mind) would have to be added in order for it not to crash if you forgot to insert the SD card. You can, of course, DIY by using a tool (can't remember what it's called <_<) available SOMEWHERE on the internet. --Lukegb 22:30, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
You won't see a channel version anytime soon, since there's no legal way to make a channel. The only channel code out there is Nintendo's code, and the Homebrew Channel's code, both of which the author's haven't given permission to use. All the channels you see out there use Nintendo's code, and this is copyright infringement. --Tantric 23:18, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Sponsors

This app is great but I know it must cost something to operate the servers and stuff. Did you ever think of getting sponsors to pay for these expenses and other hastles?

It's hosted on a shared server for $10 USD a month. I haven't thought of sponsers as I just host other websites on the server as well. If you want to help cover the cost, you can always click the ads on codemii :P --Teknecal 05:28, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Are there ads? I don't see any. --Mjbauer95 19:02, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh right, it should have been but I updated Wordpress and I must of forgotten to add them again. Added --Teknecal 06:33, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Custom Icons

I don't see much of a need to do this in the immediate future but you could add the ability to change the icons for HBC in HBB. You could have the person be able to download "packs" or just the single ones. Not much of a push but just a finishing detail for you. Pinball wizard 01:00, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

PC Port

Because of the latest WII menu update and the disabled updating applications through the wii, maybe there's a chance of a PC port of the Homebrew Browser even a text based one so we could auto-update or/and install new apps more easily. --itaiber2000

The 4.0 update only back installing homebrew on the NAND, it doesn't stop writing files to the SD card. LoganA 17:48, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

v0.3 update

Just wanted to mention how much I love the new update. It's everything I had been hoping to see and more! Thank you for this great overhaul! SMR Kurosan 08:44, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I agree. v0.3 is great. The layout is functional and looks fantastic. Even the guy that looks like Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender ;)

IMO you could take the design one step further and HBB could be an alternative to HBC. Change the installed programmes button to toggle the categories below to display installed programmes only or every programme the HBB is aware of. Add the ability to run a programme from within the details of each programme. Voila. HBB has HBC functionality and everything is sorted and earier to find. You could also add a favourites category. The ultimate thing would be to install HBB as a channel on the system menu, but I believe there is no legal way of doing that. Anyway great improvement to an already great programme Ensign R 09:35, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

PC Version

A PC version of this app would be really usefull, as getting internet on my wii is very hard (i dont have wifi and the wifi around is really faint), Having a PC version would be usefull instead of having to go to wiibrew all the time. --ChuckBartowski 00:46, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

That should be pretty simple to rig up (if Teknecal doesn't mind another app accessing his site). I'd do it but I should really be concentrating on work. If you're willing to pay me I'll write one up ASAP :) -- MetaFight 01:14, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Nice try MetaFight. :P But anyway, if anyone wants to try this, they should. I would, but my coding skillz are currently at lvl n00b. --ChuckBartowski 03:18, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

0.3.2

Just wanted to say I LOVE the "update everything" feature added in 0.3.2. SO convenient! Great job! HisshouBuraiKen 01:30, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Title SOLVED

Not a huge problem, but the title of 0.3 rev 11 still says rev 10. The description says rev 11 though. (this is in the HBC btw) Ensign R 10:14, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Please use the officially released v0.3 instead of the HBB revisions. --Teknecal 11:45, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I am not sure what you mean by official, but I have only every used HBB to update itself, originally getting HBB 0.3 via the original Homebrew Browser. HBB then updated itself to rev 11 (or maybe I did d/l it again using the original HBB. I am too lazy to do things manually Ensign R 13:38, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Not updating correctly SOLVED

Two apps I have keep showing up as having an update available, even though I have the current version of both. Even if I update through HBB they still have the yellow plus sign. The two apps are iiii (version 1.2) and Snes9x GX, which HBB reports me having version 4.0.0, when I have 4.0.3 installed. HBC reports my version as 4.0.3. Ensign R 10:14, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

As you are using Rev11, the list file only has iiii v1.2 (and not 1.2+) and SnesGX v4.0.0 (and not 4.0.0). The solution is to upgrade to official v0.3. It reports that these items are out of date because the list file is old. --Teknecal 11:45, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
As above I haven't manually installed anything. What it the best way for me to make it 'official'. I get prompted to update HBB when I use the old version. Should I press A and let it update using that? Ensign R 13:43, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
If you are on HBB v0.2.5d and it asks to update, do press yes and it will update you to HBB v0.3. Is there a reason you haven't updated? --Teknecal 13:56, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
OK. I have two versions of the HBB. The original old school one, which iirc is 0.2.5c, and 0.3 rev 11. I originally got 0.3 rev 10 by upgrading from 0.2.5c/d. I then had 2 copies of HBB, and still do. Somewhere along the way I upgraded to rev 11. This was not done manually either. I don't think I've manually copied anything to my SD since I originally installed HBB Ensign R 14:47, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
OK I think something must have screwed up when I originally installed ver 0.3. I just painstakingly removed HBBv03 from my SD card, using SD explorer, and reinstalled HBB from 0.2.5c. I now only have one HBB in my HBC, which is ver 0.3 and it all works fine. Can I now delete /temp/* from the original HBB install? Thanks Ensign R 16:03, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Yep you can remove /temp. --Teknecal 13:13, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Invalid Icon(s) SOLVED

  • When HBB starts it gets stuck checking icon 115 of 205, then resumes.
  • The listing for FCE Ultra GX has 'Invalid Icon' printed in the icons placeholder and 'noise' in the text placeholder.
  • The Winterman icon is screwed.

I just had a thought. I should try delete the files from ../temp and see if that fixes things, but I've already written this now. Ensign R 10:14, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

There is a good chance that 115 may be the FCEU icon. Please do remove all your temp folder and also upgrade to v0.3. In regards to Winterman icon, I'm not sure what causes it to change colours on the botton right of the icon. Icons like Geexbox used to do a similar thing, but I re-saved the PNG and it worked however re-saving the winterman icon didn't have any effect. --Teknecal 11:45, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Unexplained crash RECEIVED

I had HBB crash on me for no apparent reason. It's an isolated incident that I haven't replicated. I did take a photo of the screen dump though if you'd like to take a look. Ensign R 10:14, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

core was dumped again (after fresh install). I was scrolling thru utils using down on the d-pad and the wiimote rumbling as I was hovering over the items. Ensign R 16:05, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll take a look and see if I can replicate. Did the code dump have something like 8006e988--> 8006e948--> 80099cbc--> 80099c58? --Teknecal 09:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Not recognizing my homebrew apps? OPEN

I've added a lot of apps manually, which HBB doesn't recognize at all. Is it possible for you to recognize multiple versions of the same file? Also, I use custom meta.xml files for each app. Is this how you determine whether or not I have the app? If so, I suggest it be changed to check just the <version>/<release_date> tag(s) of the XML file, and nothing else. If possible, after installing the app, only update the <version>/<release_date> tag(s), leaving the rest to be the custom data (if it is custom). It may be too hard to determine whether or not it's custom, because I imagine it would include a database of all previous meta.xml files, so maybe you could simply update just the <version>/<release_date> and maybe <long_description> for apps whether that's absolutely necessary. That got a little off-topic, and can probably be split to another suggestion altogether, but mainly: is this why or why doesn't HBB recognize all of my applications? -- GamingMedley.com 04:53, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

HBB only detects programs that is in the list file (http://www.codemii.com/hbb/homebrew_browser/listv030.txt). It just checks the for the directory name and the corresponding boot.dol/elf file. If the boot file is there then it makes it as installed. If you do have an application which you think should be on HBB, provided it doesn't do any modifications that could cause an issue on the Wii if used incorrectly, then please do advise me of the application. --Teknecal 10:20, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, these are apps that are already on HBB, but HBB doesn't acknowledge that I have them. I assumed it was because I used custom meta.xml files. I'll see which ones aren't showing next time I boot up HBB. GamingMedley.com 19:04, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Mii Extractor (/Mii-Extractor_v1.0/) and Genesis Plus (/genplus/) aren't being recognized. These are the folders the applications came with from their official ZIPs outside of HBB. I'm sure there are others, but I have way too many apps to remember. GamingMedley.com 21:08, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Cannot open file, aborting SOLVED

I updated my Homebrew Browser today to 0.3. After it downloaded the zip file with all of the images and extracted them, it said at the bottom of the screen: "Cannot open file, aborting" or something like that. Then, it went into the new Homebrew Browser GUI (which I like) and worked fine. I was just wondering if this error message means anything that I should know about. --Bdr9 14:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Can you see if this happens again? If so, when scrolling through the list do you see any icon that says "Icon not found"? --Teknecal 10:29, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
After the delay after "Homebrew List Recieved", there is a lot of text that appears on the screen. I don't know if some of this is the "Icon not found" message, because it is so fast. None of the images in the list say "Icon not found". I was really just wondering if the error message meant anything that I should know about. Also, by the way, I think that you should be able to go to a different homebrew category while you are in the details screen for a homebrew. There are several places where you cannot get to the categories without hitting B, and pressing the category buttons does not work. Otherwise, the 0.3 update is great! Thanks! --Bdr9 22:53, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
That is a bit worrying. I think it's happening when it's trying to load the icons to memory. I have added some pauses and text to say what it's doing so that should help, can you try this version here: http://www.codemii.com/hbbv030test.dol --Teknecal 09:49, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
I ran this debug version of the Homebrew Browser. This was its output: Homebrew Browser 0.3 / *Some ID I'm sure you don't need to know* / Waiting for network to initialize... / Network initialized. / Settings loaded. / Requesting IP address of www.codemii.com / IP address of www.codemii.com successfully retrieved. / Requesting Homebrew List... / Homebrew List recieved. / Going to load icons / Loading image 0/209 / File found / File size ok, going to load to memory / Loading image 1/209 / File found / File size ok, going to load to memory / Loading image 2/209 / File found / File size ok, going to load to memory / Loading image 3/209 And then it goes into the Homebrew Browser GUI. The original problem does not affect the usage of the program at all, and I cannot replicate it. --Bdr9 14:43, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Are you sure the HBB is installed in the right folder on your SD card? Maybe some paths are hard-coded. -- MetaFight 16:36, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
You could always delete all the files in the /apps/homebrew_browser/temp directory, retry the HBB test and see if it happens again, it might just be when you download the zip file at the start. --Teknecal 08:55, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
My Homebrew Browser folder in apps is "homebrew_browser". It must be right because I updated it with the original program. This whole problem is probably nothing to be worried about, because I have only gotten this message once. This was when I was downloading the zip file after updating from the previous version. The Homebrew Browser still works fine, and doesn't show anything abnormal now. I just saw that message fly by after I updated, and was wondering if it meant anything. --Bdr9 14:28, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Wii Linux

How big is Wii Linux? I can possibly host it for you, if you creditted me somewhere in HBB for the hosting. Nothing extravagant is necessary, obviously, but I'm hoping something can be arranged. - GamingMedley.com 04:54, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

That would probably be hard for Teknecal because it looks for the zip file with the name of the app in codemii.com, it seems that it would be hard to hardcode it to your site for just one application.
It'd be rather easy. if (app == WiiLinux) { some other site } else { codemii.com } Or, he could use a header redirect from codemii. For example, having WiiLinux listed as codemii.com/WiiLinux.php, then putting header("Location: some other site") in WiiLinux.php. -- GamingMedley.com 04:00, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Neither of those solutions is very elegant, and, although I like the header redirect it's not very scalable. One possible solution is to implement mirrors. The main download site would be codemii, but if that returned a 404 or if the site was unavailable the HBB would fall back to one of the mirrors. This avoids having to manually insert redirects every time an app can't/won't be hosted on codemii. It does, however, have the dirty side-effect of requiring more code and generating bad requests for the codemii site. Regardless of our suggested solutions, it seems unlikely any of them will be implemented. It's not cost effective to put all that work in for a single package. If people want wiiLinux then they already know about it. If they already know about it they'll be able to find it, download it, and, install it, manually. -- MetaFight 04:54, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
As far as I know, WiiLinux is the only file Teknecal is refusing to host solely for its file size, so "manually inserting redirects" wouldn't be a huge deal - there would only be one. As for the mirror suggestion, it would be ~3 lines of text in an .htaccess file, then however he wants to go about figuring out what mirror to use via a server-side file. If he has an exact backup elsewhere, then it would require hardly any code to find the mirror'd file. But it's a good point that if they want it bad enough, they can install it manually. I was just trying to expand the HBB file list, but it's no big deal. GamingMedley.com 19:03, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I think it's over 100MB if I recall, I don't think anyone would want to wait 1 hour or more just to download it. --Teknecal 10:20, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Cant you make it downloadable in different sections? EG. Wii-Linux-1 Wii-Linux-2 etc. And a final .dol to compile them? Then again this would be the developers work and not Teknecals i assume. Beegee7730 10:27, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Updating Quake Wii RECEIVED

When updating Quake Wii, PAK0.PAK gets overwritten. This is bad, because I have vispatched my .PAK files to have transparent water. Why not check if PAK0.PAK exists first and then download a version without PAK0.PAK? This should make the download significantly smaller too.

I'll see what I can do. At the moment HBB just extracts everything from the zip file it downloads. --Teknecal 09:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Why not just have a separate zip without the PAK0.PAK file? --Raschi 18:14, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Super Mario War

When using this app, I get an "exception dsi occurred!" and a code dump. But when I download it manually from its page on wiibrew, the game runs fine. Just thought I should mention this problem.WaxyPumpkin72 23:46, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

That's odd. I've just tried it and it downloaded and worked fine. Can you try downloading it again? If it doesn't work, can you compare the files with the manually downloaded zip file?--Teknecal 01:50, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Sure, I'll try comparing them when I get the chance. It would also seem that people are having trouble with this here: http://forum.wiibrew.org/read.php?17,16766WaxyPumpkin72 16:23, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Dump to TXT file/Friendly crash screen

I was browsing apps, downloading Kobo Delux, and adding to the queue, when it crashed. Now, it's a big annoyance to take a camera and photograph the screen, and it's not the most user friendly, so why not dump the info to a TXT file instead? Then, instead of a screen with coding nonsence, a screen pops up saying "The Homebrew Browser has encounterd a fatal error, and mus be closed", and send you back to the Menu or Homebrew Channel. And if possible, even have the Browswe send the error in to the server on the next start-up. Stevoisiak 16:25, 22 May 2009 (EST) —Preceding undated comment added 20:28, 22 May 2009 (UTC).

I think he can't do this, because this error comes by every HomeBrew Application, so it's a Wii own error which says nonono that's not allowed or so, because if he could catch the error like while(this->error()) or so, he do it, but that's I think not possible, because the error comes without announcement. I hope this is right what i posted KeineAhnung —Preceding undated comment added 0:01, 31 May 2009 (UTC).
Correct. --Teknecal 12:34, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Low battery, bug

Hi. The battery of my remote ran dry, and homebrew browser instantly shutted down my wii. My guess is that it is because the homebrew browser looses connection from the wiimote, it assumes that the user pressed the power button on the wiimote. You might want to check this out yourself, teknecal. But great application anyways!!1111oeneone --Mechaelvis 20:12, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Sure will give this a try. --Teknecal 12:34, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Recent update lost info

After I received the May 1st update, the HBC displayed the HBB last, displaying the title as "/apps/homebrew_browser," and no description. It still worked fine after the update, until I rebooted the Wii. Now every time I go into the HBC to open up the Browser, the Browser loads to 4% and freezes. I can play the HBC bubble-popping game in the background, but otherwise I can't do anything.

I'm manually reloading the HBB onto my SD card as I type; hopefully that fixes the problem. --IanWatson 06:55, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Semi-random crash while downloading MPlayer CE

It seems that it's not a problem directly surrounding MPlayer, as I can download it now (after going straight to it), but if I'm on for a while or I've downloaded a few things, it seems to crash. Here's the stack trace:

8009b1c8 --> 800aa62c --> 8005c4a8 --> 8005d854 --> 8005(e/c)b6c --> 80099d10 --> 80099cac (e/c meands it could be either. It was rather blurry. But I suspect it was a c). Molokai 06:30, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Erroneous package

Hello there. The package "Homebrew Menu Demo" by Arikado of his library The HOMEbrew Menu Standard Library is in fact a demo of my HomeMenu. There must have been a mix-up when the file was uploaded. Could you rectify this please? Thank you -- MetaFight 04:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

UAEWii install issue

Hello there. There seem to be issue in installing UAEWii with Homebrew Browser: simply put when installed from there it won't work. One of the things that go wrong seems to be related to the fact that uae/uaerc is in fact created as uae/uaerc/ instead, thus making the emulator fail the boot up due to missing configurationf file. Hoping this to be useful, --Erik Bauer 08:25, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I see. It appears that because there isn't any extension to the file name, that when unzipping it thinks it's a folder. I've tried using ftpii to transfer it across and it also fails, thinking it's a folder. Will need to investigate. --Teknecal 09:06, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
