OpenTTD Licensing

Thank you for your contribution to the OpenTTD community! I noticed that while you include the proper license files for OpenGFX, OpenSFX and OpenMSX, you do not provide the license file for OpenTTD itself. This is required as part of the distribution. You should review the distribution requirements and ensure that you are including all necessary files and information. Kamnet (talk) 07:24, 13 January 2013 (CET)

Icon Editor

I like those icons you made. What Icon Editor do you use? --Mjbauer95 23:11, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

The Homebrew Showcase.

Nice vid. Will yo be doing one for June now? --ChuckBartowski 23:54, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Lexar 2GB w/ Bootmii

It looks like you reported Bootmii booting properly with a Lexar 2GB SD. Could you tell me if your card looked anything like this? I have what appears to be the same card rebranded, and I can't get it to load Bootmii. --Mu mind 17:24, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it's exactly like that. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 02:10, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Screenshots

I just noticed the new screenshots you are embedding into the Themes page. What software do you use to make these? --Superyoshi 15:49, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

DScaler for the capture, VirtualDub for deinterlacing, Photoshop for cropping and scaling, optipng/advdef/pngout for compression. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 15:55, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the information, I'm trying these. --Superyoshi 16:00, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Could you, you know, not replace my screenshot? --bg4545 04:19, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Who says all the screenshots have to be yours? Quit it. --bg4545 04:36, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you, the only thing I liked about it before was text. Themeshooter v2.0 does this for us now, plus its higher quality than his screenshots. Extrems replacing all the themes is just an annoyance. --Abeckring 18:51, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
This is about what you will actually see on your unfiltered television, not some fictional digital RGB video cable. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 00:35, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

ThemeShooter

I have updated ThemeShooter to v2.0, and I feel it is now quite accurate, and I think that the screenshots it generates are now on par with the ones you have captured. Would you mind if I added it to the HBC themes page now? --SifJar 19:42, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Here's a list of things which should be done:

  • Convert to reduced range (16-235) YUY2 and back to full range (0-255) RGB24.
  • Reject JPEGs disguised as PNGs.
  • Reject wrong sized assets.
  • Nerf font rendering, the real one is no where this good.
  • Randomize bubbles position, rotation and scaling.

— Extrems (talkcontribs) 14:08, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Well, I don't understand your first point, no idea how I'd implement the second, third should be do-able, fourth; don't know if I could, is it really that important?, and the fifth - are the bubbles scaled to varying degrees in HBC and rotated etc.? That should probably be possible, I just went for a set positioning so the screenshots are more uniform. But I can probably change that in the next release. So in summary, I should have rejection of incorrect sized images and randomization of bubbles in next release. I'll try and add detection to ensure PNGs are actually PNGs. If I can find a way, I'll make the font look worse. --SifJar 18:21, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
The XFB used by VI is in YUY2, GX's pipeline levels the values to a reduced range due to television standards. This process will effectively blur the colors horizontally and make gradients steep. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 00:30, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Are you by any chance able to provide information on the scaling of bubbles? I have added randomized positioning to v2.5 (which I'll release a few minutes after I post this), and also rejecting wrong sized assets. --SifJar 20:48, 29 September 2010 (CEST)

wtf extrems y would you upload a new image to my nes and matrix. I put them there for a reason, they are in hd unlike your crappy images. Havdnt u noticed that thdmeshooter has text theres no reason for you to replace --Abeckring 13:39, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

These are taken with the real Homebrew Channel with a real Wii. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 13:45, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay if u hadn't noticed they're exactly the same, yours just aren't HD because you either have a crappy TV or a crappy thing that your using to tak the pictures. Since you insist on changing the pictures to "MY" themes I will just redirect peeps to my HD images. BTW, with the retake you did to my matrix theme you can barely see the background. --Abeckring 16:13, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
I suggest you get your HBC up and running again before criticizing me. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 02:37, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Me doing homebrew on my wii is none of your concern. --Abeckring 04:43, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
It is necessary in order to design your themes accordingly. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 06:22, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Other

Hey Extrems, I'm having trouble getting my v1.2 image for hbc matrix theme up as current image. I've noticed you've been redoing the images so do you think you could lend me a hand? Its already uploaded and description is v1.2 pic, it just isnt set as the current image.

Just wait for the cache to refresh. — Extrems (talkcontribs) 19:01, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Okay so what was the point in undoing the dates and the rule I added? --Abeckring 14:23, 26 August 2010 (CEST)

Because the page looked like crap with that stuff on it. --Tantric 16:07, 26 August 2010 (CEST)
Fine but more than that was deleted. I added sidenotes and a helpful rule on rar files. --Abeckring 21:59, 26 August 2010 (CEST)

Enhanced mGBA Feature Request

Hi Extrems. I love your work with Enhanced mGBA. I was wondering if you could add rapid fire support to the emulator, as well as (maybe) settings that are game-specific.

For example, I've been playing Pokémon Blue recently using WiiMednafen, which is great and all, but it lacks color support. Enhanced mGBA, and vanilla mGBA, both do display the colors properly, but they lack the rapid fire support that WiiMednafen has. Since the GB/GBC do not have L+R shoulder buttons, I am able to set Wiimote A and B buttons to rapid fire A and B, respectively. This would also be helpful in Pokémon Ruby (GBA), as the shoulder buttons are never used in that game, but I wouldn't want to set Wiimote A and B to rapid fire A and B for GBA globally, only for that game.

It would be so helpful if you could add these two features to Enhanced mGBA!
