Copyright issues

You can't legally bring stuff in from WiiLi unless you specifically put this wiki under the GFDL as well. That, or contact every contributor to every article that you bring over here and acquire their permission. I's also a good idea just because everyone likes free licenses (hehe). So... are you going to? 24.76.102.248 18:29, 9 December 2006 (CST)

Furthermore, you normally have to attribute anything you copy to the people who edited it. Either listing the last six contributors (talk page, HTML comment, edit summary, wherever), or pasting a copy of the whole article history. 24.76.102.248 18:30, 9 December 2006 (CST)

done, I thought I had selected the gfdl when I set up the wiki but I guess I didn't

Double work?

Hi, sorry if it sounds debasing for you, it isn't intended that way, but: Your wiki and the WiiLi-wiki seem both to have the same target or at least work on very similar topics. As you have taken some of the pages from WiiLi as the base of your work and added quite a bit of technical and other information to it the question arises for me if it wouldn't be an enhancement for both WiiLi and WiiBrew if they merged their infos and continued to work on a single database? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Best regards,

User Kosi2801 from WiiLi --195.3.81.25 02:53, 21 December 2006 (CST)

Wiili

To me, wiili is a similar but different beast. Wiili attracts a lot of people looking for handouts and free games with all of the digg and /. popularity. This wiki is much more technical in nature, and from what I can see a lot more development goes on here. They seem to take a lot of our information and dumb it down for the average user anyways, so a merger really wouldn't add any more information to their wiki. I can see the benefits of a merger but I can't put up with a bunch of people trying to sound like they know what they're talking about. It's not going to happen any time in the near future; these wiki's serve two different purposes and so need to be separate. -Ch0p

Advertising

Any chances you can get rid of the advertising? THat's one of the main reasons for me to use this wiki instead of Wiili. Please remove the adds, perhaps we can donate instead.

I'm currently at $77 and when it hits $100 and finally rolls over into my bank account I'll be removing the ads. I'd guessing it will be about 2-3 months before that happens. I just got a hosting bill for $217 and I currently am without a job so hopefully you'll put up with the single unobtrusive ad for another few months while I work something out.

Wiki work

Can you please install the parser functions extension? Some soon to be imported templates makes use of it and look really badly broken without it.--henke37 04:06, 17 February 2008 (PST)

parser functions

done I did it as son as I got up this morning

Flush cache?

When I upload a new image, the old one still shows. Is there a way to make it load directly from MediaWiki, bypassing the squid? thanks Felix123 19:46, 18 March 2008 (PDT)

Deletion

How do I list something for deletion on this wiki? thanks Felix123 19:46, 18 March 2008 (PDT)

New table templates

Some new templates have been added like Template:Table and Template:Table/Row, which are simplifying page layouts. You can see the large amount of difference they are making in page size by looking at Socket history. That page went from 15kB to about 2kB.

I'm just wondering if you can tell whether these changes are helpful or hindering to performance. On one hand, I'd think they would increase the # of MySQL queries, while making their returns much smaller, but also increase webserver load to build the pages. Just wondering if you had any input --ProdigySim 06:11, 11 April 2008 (PDT)

Yeah they look good. I have no problem with sacrificing a little cpu for abstraction. Keep up the good work. -ch0p

Just remember that the master stylesheet is a wikipage too, here is some info: [1] [2] --henke37 06:37, 11 April 2008 (PDT)

User stylesheets

I made a user stylesheet at User:LoganA/monobook.css, but even after clearing my cache, and using [Main Page&action=purge], it does not add this needed line in the HTML,

@import "/index.php?title=User:LoganA/monobook.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css";

What could be the problem? LoganA 18:49, 14 April 2008 (PDT)

As stated on the page I linked to, the admin needs to enable them in the configuration file.--henke37 23:44, 14 April 2008 (PDT)

What page did you linked to? Anyway, after some Google searching, I found this, Manual:$wgAllowUserCss, however, I see that it claims that it may increase server load, so never mind. LoganA 12:18, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

About your Squid setup

It seems that any user that goes to wiibrew.org, the wiki sees the proxy's IP, and not the real IP, using purge method doesn't work, along with stale caching of the editing textbox, have you looked at Mediawiki's guide for Squid caching? LoganA 18:29, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

SVG Settings

I was wondering if you could change the svg rendering library to librsvg instead of ImageMagick. It requires you have librsvg installed, which has a lot of dependencies so it may be too much work. Here is a page about changing it. Once installed, it should make rendering SVGs a lot faster and more accurate. --Hiker13526 18:50, 5 May 2008 (PDT)

Ideas

Is it possible to get language bar (like wikipedia) to main bar at left? It would make easier to get to diffrent language pages. And if you change language from settings to eg. finnish, is it possible to go eg. main page/fi instead of main page? Thanks! Quu 1056, 10 August 2008 (GMT+2)

You are not the first one to suggest this, I have suggested it too. But what is needed for a properly translated wiki is a lot, you need a full separate wiki install. If you ask me we should just go ahead and do this, but as you can see, that has not happened so far.--henke37 12:01, 10 August 2008 (CEST)

Link to Old Forums

ch0p, can you add a link to the old forums on the side-menu on the left of the page? The forums are now at wiibrew.exofire.net/old/ and can you make it say Original Forums, not Old Forums, because they are still active, and if anyone sees old, they will think it isn't used anymore.

Forgot Password

I hate asking this here, but is there a way I can reset my password for my account (Quixada)? I had to make a new one just so I could post this. Quixada1 23:02, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
