Talk:Wolfenstein 3D Wii
sweet
Great to see another 3d FPS ported to Wii. Can't wait for more updates. I recommend you make IR turning like in WiiDoom. I'll try it out more and let you know if I find anything else out.--FUNKAMATIC ~talk 14:13, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- I have to say, IR turning SUCKS. Think about it, on the computer when you get to the edge of the mouse pad, you just pick up the mouse and put it back in the center. You do this all the time and don't even think about it. On the wii the "mouse" is the wiimote, and the "mouse pad" is the stupidly named 'sensor bar'. When you get to the edge of the pad, you can't just pick up the wiimote and recenter it. Unless you figure out a clean way to tell it "now you ignore the wiimote movement", it will be a huge pain in the ass. Also the original game didn't have mouse look.yossi 01:53, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Accually with the Wii depending on the direction from the center it moves left/right. I believe it would be better. Beegee7730 08:22, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- yeah, check out how WiiDoom does it. this would be ideal.--FUNKAMATIC ~talk 14:29, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
strafe
This game needs strafe put in, even before the sound is fixed. As soon as it's up, I'll post a link to a youtube video of me playing and needing strafe to get around corners without getting shot.yossi 01:57, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

- Theres strafe in the updated 1.1 version. Hold B.--Arikado 13:06, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Beta Testers
Ive played this game for years, and wanted to know if you need any beta testers? Beegee7730 08:27, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- Always, when I add certain small features to the game, say, a cheat code menu or something small like that I'd like to let people play the newer version so they can give me any input without pushing for a release and having homebrew news sites pick it up labeling it as a release. I'll notify you when I have something complete and playable to try out. MrPeanut 10:26, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Icon
Great work so far, this looks awesome. I created an additional icon for you, you can find it on the Homebrew Channel/Icons page.
There seems to be a sound glitch when opening any secret doors, and running needs to be implemented still.
Haha, can't enter 'IDM' on this one! Roobix 20:22, 02 May 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but when I updated to your most recent version (1.2a) the game seems to freeze at the "Press a key" screen right at the start. No matter what button I press, I can't continue, nor can I restart the Wii. Could be a problem on my end if no one else is experiencing this. Roobix 00:11, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Please delete your config.* file in your game folder and run the game, letting it generate a new one. That should take care of it MrPeanut 12:37, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Great Work
I REALLY enjoyed getting this classic on my Wii. Good port overall, but the loss of strafe kills. Maybe add a secondary control scheme that uses the nunchuck to turn and buttons to move? That would be ideal. Also, is there plans to do some software synthesis for the music? Atariangamer 18:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks for everyone's positive input on the game, Atariangamer: Yes and Yes. I'm currently working on an updated controller interface in the game where options are "Sideways Wiimote", "Wiimote & Nunchuk", "Gamecube Controller", and "Classic Controller". Gamecube controller and Sideways wiimote work 100%. I just need to get the Wiimote & Nunchuk (working on that now) working and buy a classic controller :) The Adlib synthesis will be addressed as soon as I get Wiimote + Nunchuk working properly. Unfortunately, I've been working 10hr 3rd shifts at work and am usually too tired to want to code at 8am :P But anyway, all of this will be addressed, don't worry... MrPeanut 10:22, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree, GREAT WORK! With the 1.3 updates, IR controls, and finally music, I consider this project complete! Great job Mr.Peanut, from all the oldschool gamers out there! Perhaps Catacombs 3D soon? Eddie Brock 06:07, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Full Version
I was not able to get the full version to work.
First I replaced all the *.WL1 files with the *.WL6 files. The game said it can't find any data files, and quit.
Then I renamed all those *.WL6 files to *.WL1. The game seemed like it started loading, but then dropped out with "Out of memory".

I have not been able to get the full version working in 1.2a. It worked 100% for me with the first release, however after updating all of the system files to 1.2a, the game just hangs at the first screen and the Wii has to be powered down. Any suggestions? -Eddie_Brock May31,2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eddie Brock (talk • contribs) 17:01, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
My bad. Turns out I was using the shareware version from HBB.
Got the Wolf3dWii_1_2_full_nofiles version from your sourceforge page and everything worked fine , Cheers :)
robertfisk 19:22, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Yea I agree that the full version files dont work with 1.3. That needs to be addressed. I have all the full version files waiting.Jasons34 01:39, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes please i can't get my full version to work on 1.3... it shows the sound screen like normal at startup, then the next screen is blue with a single "U", then i get a distorted screen followed by an abort back to the homebrew screen. I downloaded the full version from sourceforge and copied my wl6 files to the folder but nothing works... (FatherOfTime87 08:03, 12 August 2009 (UTC))
wave buffer error
When I try to launch Spear of Destiny I get the following error:
Unable to allocate wave buffer for sound 33!
And then the app closes, sending me back to the homebrew channel. This happens in both 1.1a and 1.2a. Does anybody know of a solution?
This doesn't happen when I use the Wolfenstein 3D (shareware or full) version.
I'm using the registered version of Spear of Destiny, I bought it off of Steam and copied all the *.SOD files over to the game's directory on my SD card, did I miss any files? Was I perhaps using a later version of Spear of Destiny when only version 1.0 is supported?
And I thought that maybe you could use tilting the Wii Remote left and right like in Sonic and the Secret Rings for Strafing. That would free up the B trigger for Running, just a thought. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brendano (talk • contribs) 19:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
lost episodes
The episodes "Return to Danger" and "Ultimate Challenge", any chance these are supported? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cheesefart (talk • contribs) 03:21, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's a really good question, and I can't give you an answer until I buy those episodes to test them. I didn't even know they existed. MrPeanut 15:35, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
download issues
For some reason when downloading from homebrew channel this application tells me that there are no Wolfenstein 3D data files found, and will not even let me play the shareware version. Why is this? I downloaded another copy using the link from the side of this here wiki page, and managed to find a version that works, but I'm just wondering why direct download from homebrew browser does not. Anyway, great job with the project. I love that it has a deadzone, making it even more playable than the Doom/Quake Ports. It'd be really cool if you implemented use of the wii/gamecube rumble when the player takes damage or fires. I know that's not in the original Wolfenstein, nor could it have been, and I know it can't be easy, but I'd be super impressed. Keep up the good work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FF12 (talk • contribs) 09:09, 25 January 2011 (CET)
