DNS hax

Can't we change the DNS server and get it to refer to machine somewhere else to hack the Shop Channel? If we can figure out the https certificate then this should be possible. Pinball wizard 16:37, 23 May 2008 (PDT)

I meant to say that if we set up a DNS server then won't the Wii attempt to send the code to unlock it the machine and we could have it take the encryption key and store it so we can use it for later use? I could be completely wrong but this is my ideas. Pinball wizard 11:34, 28 May 2008 (PDT)
You'll need Nintendo's private key; and the whole purpose of public-private key pairs (such as what SSL uses), is so that middle-men cannot retrieve the private key. --Chungy 17:36, 28 May 2008 (PDT)
So I just remembered that the server gives the client the key, so it is impossible to do this at the current stage. Thanks anyways for your clearing up. Pinball wizard 08:54, 29 May 2008 (PDT)

hmmmm

i was just thinking about it;The WiiShop Channel downloads from unencrypted URL's right? then signs them + installs? and because you can change the URL it goes to , when started, couldn't you change the DLC link? i'm not talking about installing pirated wads, but i'm talking about Perfectely Legal WADS using CustomizeMii or such --Calthephenom 20:14, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

It doesn't sign anything. It downloads signed stuff, decrypts it and installs it. The Wii cannot sign anything, it doesn't know the private key. There is no need for what you want, and it wouldn't work anyway. BTW, why post this on crediar's talk page? --SifJar 20:34, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
