'Skip disk update check'
Some games require installation of various other IOSs to run, even if you skip the disk update. Madworld for instance requires installation of IOS 38, 53, and 55 WADs.
- If the patch fails, won't you end up with a nonworking systemmenu? How is that very brick safe? Steve32 02:24, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
- if anything fails the patch won't be applied, I check everything which could go wrong. So the patch-process itself is very safe. Crediar 15:31, 8 August 2008 (CEST)

Sorry i didn't get it; after starfall is ran via homebrew channel, is it possible to unpatch the wii? i ask it because i don't want to do any permanent change to my wii. thanks --Balta 16:50, 9 August 2008 (CEST)

Suggestions
I am not the most educated on this but couldn't you eventually make the recovery menu free to be accessed on a bricked system so recovery is possible? Also, My system is in the US so I guess it isn't usable on this version? Great job though. Pinball wizard 03:04, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
- and how would you install it onto a bricked system ? Crediar 15:31, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
- I mean to have it installed before your system gets bricked. Like a safe-gaurd from issues later to come. Pinball wizard 16:36, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
How about making each hack/feature an option? Some of us might want to keep our BGM. What is the rescue menu? It would be useful to include more info about what its purpose is (or a link to a Wiibrew page if it indeed is part of the System Menu). And finally, well, a US version would be nice :) AerialX 07:29, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
- it already has options, before you suggest stuff you should do some research first Crediar 15:31, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
- Fair enough, I was just going by what the video seemed to do and what's written on the article; I never downloaded it since I don't have the right System Menu version. I'm still curious about what the rescue menu does though; care to elaborate or link to information about it? AerialX 19:59, 8 August 2008 (CEST)
- You can use the cIOS downgrader to install 3.2E. This doesn't really help the U region very much (I don't feel like chancing an install of a Euro menu on a U region Wii), but there you go. Any chance that a U region version will be released? Sli 22:36, 8 August 2008 (CEST)

I don't really understand what you mean by when you say that you're adding wii region free with video patch. But if its going to force PAL60 or fix the PAL widescreen issue with some games then that's good. Boggle
(jassim) can i make a suggestion which would benefit PAL wii owners, when we turn our wii on, and gold y to start the game automatically, it forces PAL50 instead of PAL60, is there a chance that this could be changed so it forces PAL60 instead? thx in advance
So cool!
Everything works as advertised on 3.2U. Gotta love the Wii menu without music.
Holding Y actually boots directly into the disc game for me, as opposed to any sort of recovery mode, but I like it!
- The rescue-menu is meant to start a disc nothing more Crediar 03:01, 10 August 2008 (CEST)
The health warning hack needs some work as it works only partially. When you exit a program like HBC, then it does skip the health warning. But if you cold boot your system, you actually get a 30-second black screen.
- It waits for the wiimote to connect Crediar 03:01, 10 August 2008 (CEST)
- On mine, the screen flashes the health warning, then goes to the black screen or the menu. And are there any plans to use custom screens? I would like to use the built in picture that tells you to press A. --SwooshyCueb 02:50, 12 August 2008 (CEST)

Is there any possibility of 3.2J support? I know I can change to 3.2U with AnyRegion, but I'd rather not do this unless I really had to. Isaac356 03:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
What does the backmenu do or change from just skipping the healthwarning and why is it better? And how long does it last? Pebls123 01:46, 13 August 2008 (CEST)
- It's that intro with the fading channels. Getting to the mainmenu isn't faster but you don't have to connect a wiimote or press any buttons Crediar 01:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Region-free channels
I have a US Wii and would like to be able to select the UK as my country, as the US Wii only offers selections for N/S American countries. Not that I'm bothered per se, but it would be nice if the news, weather, shop etc channels, were UK-centric. I installed Starfall and turned on region-free channels, but still can't change to the UK. Did I misunderstand the point of region-free channels?
--"Region-free channels" means that you are now able to use channels from any region, however it doesn't change the region of those channels. For instance, since you have a North-American Wii, the channels that came packaged with it are of the US region. Their region can't be changed, but if you were somehow able to acquire channels from other regions, they would work correctly with Starfall. Hope this helps! SMR Kurosan 06:20, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I see. So my only option for European channels is a European Wii? I've heard that using the Waninkoko downgrader to install a different region's firmware causes a semi-brick, so I don't fancy doing that. BTW, I don't understand the point of this region-free channels feature, as how is one supposed to "somehow acquire channels from other regions"? Topper 18:22, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, here's an example. When Dr. Mario first came out, I was eager to play it and didn't want to wait until it came out in the Americas, so I downloaded the Japanese version until the game came out here. Thus, that channel's region was JP, and because of that it didn't work on my US region Wii; I had to convert the channel to a region-free one. Had I been using Starfall, that wouldn't have been necessary. Here's an idea though... If people who used the JP version of Brawl on their non-JP Wii got duplicate news/weather channels from the JP region, perhaps playing a EU version of the game on your US Wii would install duplicate weather/news channels from Europe? SMR Kurosan 19:28, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
i'm having troubles with the "region free channels": i have a NTSC "super metroid" channel, before being patched when i tried to load the channel on the screen used to appear "this channel cannot be used in your region" or something like this, then freeze; now that the wii it's patched it directly freezes showing no message. what can i do? --Balta 23:13, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
It doesn't need to be patched, that's what Starfall's region-free feature is for. So, get an unpatched one. SMR Kurosan 00:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
does it work with anyregion changer?
I have a japanese wii. I recently changed my wii's region, language, country code and game region to load thing with anyregion changer. if the install of starfall goes uninterupted, will it brick my wii? (don't have a semi brick)
- In theory, no, it won't. Nobody has actually tried this though. Muzer 16:24, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
can someone check?
Wii Recovery Dongle
"Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller" How does this compare to the recovery dongle marcan made?
- It's exactly the same, except that with StarFall you can remove the DiagDiscCheck which checks if the first byte of a disc is '0'. Crediar 10:56, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
If ignore updates is selected, will it still be possible to update from the recovery mode in case of a brick like with SaveMii? Or do I have to make sure I always have the Twilight Hack installed on my Wii so i can use that with cIOS downgrader or AnyRegion Changer? --Magu 14:16, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Press B+2 To continue.... (Problems)
I can never get past the warning screen. When ever i try to press these buttons at the exact time, it never works... Suggestions? Perhabs you should just change it to A?
- Read the disclaimer, faggot --SquidMan 07:35, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I have read everything, also the disclaimer that is shown when i launch the app. I was referring to, "As of v0.5, to install the hack, you must press B+2 at exactly the same time when prompted. This may take a few tries. " Maybe it would be better if there was a readme file included. I don't feel like i know enough about this, especially if i can't even get the app running.
- I'm also failing to get past "B+2". I don't suppose anybody has any suggestions? Kandrc 06:51, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Region Free Discs
Okay, I am now using System Menu 3.2U with all hacks except for "Remove BGM". Unfortunately, discs from other regions are not working. I'm not sure what else to say. Region free channels works, and when I use Gecko OS rebooter with region free discs, it works. But the Starfall patch does not work. Any suggestions? --Isaac356 21:32, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
cIOS
I have a cIOS installed on my ntsc 3.2U Wii. Will starfall still work for me? --Arikado 16:25, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
WARNING-DO NOT REMOVE UPDATES!!
do not remove disk updates because if you do and you brick your wii you are officially screwed and have no way out of itbecause when u get a savemii, all it does is boot autoboot disks and looks for an update, if it sees no update ull be stuck with a bricked wii FOREVER
But if you enable it and also enable the "Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller" and "Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check", a SaveMii is useless. :\ --AceAlabama 02:44, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
The one feature that I find most lacking in the Wii menu is the inability to use a Gamecube controller to navigate the menu. Is there a hack available to do this? I can't tell from this article if Starfall can make this change. I merely want to be able to use my Wii as a Gamecube without hooking up a sensor bar and a Wii remote. I noticed that I can use Starfall to "Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller", but I don't know what the rescue menu is, and if it will allow me to start the inserted game.--SkiDragon 22:58, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Gamecube video mode patch breaks video output on US console
The Gamecube region free/video mode patch breaks display of all Gamecube games (including NTSC games) on my US console. Does it just set the video mode to PAL or something?--Timedroid 20:47, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- I can vouch for this. Same happens to me. Plz fix crediar, kthxbai --SquidMan 00:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's exactly what it does. Remember, this was for 3.2E before it came out for 3.2U. Unfortunately, it's only for PAL. --Isaac356 05:37, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
More development?
Is anyone going to pursue creating a program similar to this? I'd be interested to see what more could come. Jdcx95 03:40, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Heh, I'd be willing to write one with more patches, if only I knew how to modify the System Menu. Menu Loader Clone and Gecko OS have a couple nice patches that I would like to see permanent. --Isaac356 05:37, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ask, and you shall receive. Menu Patcher. --Isaac356 20:41, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Nocopy saves or other new features coming soon?
I know that it has been said that 0.5 is the last version, and it works well for me, but I know "Copy 'nocopy' savefiles" was mentioned as "Coming soon" and I was wondering if I should expect it at some point or not? I see Preloader offers this feature, and while I am sure Preloader will install just fine, I am hesitant to mess with it since it is seemingly more annoying to uninstall the program and its hacks. Thus, I stick with Starfall and I hope one day such a tweak might be added. Thank you! --SuperWario 00:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Edit: NM. I took the plunge to Preloader because I recognize now that Starfall hasn't been updated since August of 2008 and its author is working on the aforementioned Preloader.
Is a new version is planned ? Since the new version of the system menu we can't install it. Terloup2 20:24, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
So I'm going to guess that the proper successor to Starfall for 4.0 systems would be Preloader? It does pretty much the same thing, though not totally.--Ryutso 21:55, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
