Is this even possible to trigger?
I believe the health screen is dismissed whenever a Wiimote connects; I’ve only ever dismissed it by pressing A in Dolphin with an emulated Bluetooth stack, and that’s where I was able to use maintenance mode. Even in Dolphin, disconnecting and reconnecting the Wiimote skips the screen, so I have no idea how it’s supposed to be triggered. Maybe just hold + and - while the Wiimote is turning on? - I was able to trigger it on my Wii without much issue. You need to turn on the Wii Remote faster (press any button on it while the screen is still black; the remote's lights will flicker for a bit and then it'll connect when it's ready). I also observed the auto-dismissing effect, but that only happens if you activate the remote later on (possibly after the text saying to press A is already visible).
- You don't need to hold + and - while the remote is turning on; you can start holding them once the remote has been connected (as long as connecting it didn't dismiss the screen). The page incorrectly stated that pressing A is needed; you only need to hold down + and - (but they must be held for a few seconds).
- It's possible that Wii Remote Plus (the one with the embedded MotionPlus) takes longer to start up or something, making it harder to use. I did my testing with a regular Wii Remote. I also noticed that if you have BootMii as Boot2, then booting into the Homebrew Channel and exiting to the system menu results in the health and safety screen, but you can have a remote already connected; that may help with testing. (That phenomena doesn't happen if you directly boot the open homebrew channel as a WAD in Dolphin, and it also doesn't happen on console if you (re)launch the homebrew channel from the system menu. I'm not sure how the system menu is deciding that it's already been launched before.) --Pokechu22 (talk) 20:50, 13 December 2021 (CET)
