Guide to Compatibilty Table

This Guide explains what the table terminology means, and also should be used as a point of reference when adding games and info to maintain consistency with terms.

  • PSX Title refers to the name of the PSone game.
  • PSX Region refers to the orignal game region
    • PAL for Europe and Australia
    • NTSC for the Americas
    • JAP for Asia
  • Image Extension refers to the type of file. This will primarily be either .bin or .img (until WiiSX is compatible with other file formats).
  • Image size should state the size of the Image in megabytes (MB).
  • WiiSX Rev refers to the version of WiiSX used for testing.
  • Dynarec FPS (Ingame) states what the usual occuring Frames Per Second is during gamepaly with this setting.
  • Interpreter FPS (Ingame) states what the usual occuring Frames Per Second is during gameplay with this setting.
  • Status states whether the game was Playable or Unplayable.
    • Playable can be considered allowing the game to run and play at a suitable speed, with hardly any graphical issues but allowing for various audio issues, unless the audio is integral to the game (e.g. Music 2000).
    • Unplayable can be considered where games do not play at a suitable speed, where visuals are broken or difficult to make out, or when games are prone to crashing.
  • Comments used to provide advice on settings and awareness of issues.

Comments: Plays well, speed is good with Dynarec+BIOS (HLE causes missing sprites and other graphical glitches). Some music samples during cutscenes play too loudly at random. There are some points that hitch slightly, but overall it's quite good. (tested from opening to first battle)

Comments: Plays great on Dynarec, however there are times where the game won't move forward in battle (if there's dialogue between characters before the battle, for example). It will continue forward on Interpreter, but the game is much less enjoyable at that framerate. Recommendation: make a save state if game won't progress, load under interpreter, it will continue, then save again and load under dynarec and play the battle.

Comments: some slight audio glitches that do not affect gameplay

The sound slurs a lot, but not enough to be too annoying. Overall very playable. The dialogue can product a crazy sound >_<

Playable (PSX BIOS)
Comments: Requires BIOS file and Interpreter mode; HLE hangs indefinitely without getting to the title screen. Dynarec is fast but upon attacking in battle, the framebuffer messes up and scrambles all textures and text, making the game unplayable. Running with Interpreter+BIOS results in accurate, playable, but half-speed gameplay. There are small hitches when portraits are loaded for dialogue with both Interpreter and Dynarec.

Comments: Intro movies skip horribly, freezes after selecting anything in the main menu.

Comments: The game itself seems fine, but cutscenes have a weird delay - effects and framerate is fine, but objects will move for a second, then stall for a second continously. EG, in the opening cutscene, the water effects move fluidly, but the sub will move forward, then stop, then move forward and stop for a second at a time. Characters, elevators, anything that moves has this stop/go motion, but Snake's breath, weather effects, flashing lights all proceed normally. Audio breaks up in cutscenes as well. Playable if you skip all the cutscenes.

Comments: Plays a lot like Twisted Metal 4 does. Although there is no in-battle background music, the SFX work properly, making the game very enjoyable. Dynarec plays at nearly perfect pace; Interpreter is slower, but still playable. With the Frame Limit setting turned off, the game's FPS in Dynarec can usually be anywhere between 75-95, making it almost too fast to be played well, but still playable.

Comments: Works great, very enjoyable. There is SFX, but there appears to be no music when in battles, although there is in menus. Otherwise operates perfectly. Dynarec plays much better, almost perfectly. Interpreter does work, but at a much slower graphical pace. With the Frame Limit off, the game's FPS in Dynarec can usually be anywhere between 55-75, still keeping a playable pace.
