What is SMB?

What is SMB? Can someone please confirm that this stands for Server Message Block? I would like a link out to wikipedia or similar so that it's clear what is being referred to. Thanks. Mleonard 16:24, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Note for Mac users

From the MPlayerWii page:

There is a bug in the libogc that prevents SMB to work with MacOS X out of the box. There is a workaround, edit the smb.conf file on your mac and add these lines:

[global]
   max xmit = 32768

after this one:

; Site-specific parameters can be added below this comment.

then restart your Mac. --Q-pa 13:04, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Support for connection via hostname?

I'm not sure if this is an issue with Tinysmb itself or with its implementation in the apps that use it, but I can't seem to access my smb share using a host name, only the actual IP. This would be incredibly useful as I am in a dorm and am unable to reliably set up a static IP address. Inability to connect to a hostname is the one reason I don't use smb in the apps that support it, it's just a pain to reconfigure it every time, so I just end up putting my apps/roms/wads/etc on my sd card.--Qwertymodo 06:08, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
