Why aren't you using the Infobox for this article like is being used on all of the others? I can understand that it's somewhat different, but it's displayed inline with the other loaders and most of which have it (though they are a little outdated!) JD 14:15, 6 June 2008 (CEST)
Multiple Feature Requests
For convenience, I collected a couple of the comments of users and combined them into this topic - Hope you find it useful and no one minds --Sorky 11:07, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Categories
Putting directories in 'apps' that act like categories. These would appear as folders and would then house apps
eg:
apps / games / game1 apps / games / game2 apps / games / game3 apps / modifying / updater1 apps / modifying / updater2 apps / modifying / updater3 apps / media / player1 apps / media / player2 apps / media / player3 apps / demos / demo1 apps / demos / demo2 apps / demos / demo3
Note 1: If a folder doesn't have a DOL file, treat it as a category ;-) Note 2: Could have categories in categories Note 3: Could use the trigger [B] to move back up the tree? Note 4: Simply making the application columns wrap-around would really help as a start ;-)
Really need some way to improve navigation with lots of apps --Sorky 11:07, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Themes / Skins
Are there ways or plans to implement themes for the channel? --Atariangamer 05:24, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, themes would be really cool --Rsrockerz 07:13, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- The HBC seems far better than Wii Homebrew Launcher but I do like the way WiiHL looks like the normal Wii Channels. WOuld this be possible in a future update? --Unsigned
- This could be uber-cool! The best launcher I have seen is the Configurable USB Loader that has the various different ways of arranging the applications --Sorky 11:07, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Music
I think the HBC should have music in the main menu and a sfx when you pop a bubble (your own Mp3's or the same music you get when you load the channel would be fine) --Aujakev 14:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. That would be interesting. A lot less boring. --SonicHyuga 10:30PM, July 15, 2009 (UTC)
- Great idea --Sorky 11:07, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
ADD USB Support
I don't have an SD card so I load most of the applications using wiiload. Having an USB key I put all the homebrew applications on that key and I use wiiload to get Loadmii working inside the homebrew channel. This allows me after to run everything from USB. However it would be nice to implement directly additional USB support inside the homebrew channel so there is no need to use the wiiload/loadmii through a wireless connection each time --Unsigned
- Do usb hard drives work now? I'm just wondering because i am tired of replacing worn out sd cards (about to be on my 3rd - flash memory stinks) --Toagac 16:50, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Would be great to have the channel run from the USB Drive as I do with USB Loader --User:Sorky 8:43, 19 July 2009(GMT+10)
Parental Control
Is there a way to set a parental controls 'rating' on the Homebrew channel? I would like to keep the kids out of the Homebrew Channel, there is lots of stuff in there they could mess with and not have any clue what they are doing. --Unsigned
- Totally agree - especially if it could be done per application or category --User:Sorky 8:43, 19 July 2009(GMT+10)

Hello, since 1.0.3 the time spent on the HBC and homebrew games is not displayed anymore on the "bureau". Very disapointing. How to get back to 1.0.1 please. Thank you --OPIK 13:55, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Updated and no applications
Hello, i've updated HBC with the HBC first and my applications wont appear in HBC, so i've tried Uninstalling and then installing it from HackMii Installer 0.2 but still no luck, anyone knows how could i fix this? (I have 4.0E on my wii) --Tusk 18:15, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
wat.
This isn't a question or a bug, so I'm putting it here. It bugs the CRAP out of me that the homebrew channel is blue. Homebrews can range from white wheat ales to the blackest of stouts, but if your homebrew is blue, you've done something very wrong. RandomFerret 0:54, 7 June 2008 (EST)
- Hey, you're not alone, Randomferret. I feel the same way. Home brew is not supposed to be blue unless you've got a smurf infestation under the kitchen sink or the bathroom cabinet where you've hidden the hooch. Flark 13:27, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- The Wii's color scheme is white and blue. --Blooper4912 00:08, 25 June 2008 (CEST)

Update trouble
I've got a bit of trouble updating to beta9. i've used a downgrader (because i updated by mistake) that's worked fine. but when i go to update via the channel it gets to around 20% the cancels. and i can't find a .DOL/.ELF installer for beta9.
Speggy 19:31, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- The download page for HBC is http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/ --Crayon 19:34, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
I only see version 1.01 - where can I get later versions? My Wii isn't on the internet so it can't upgrade by itself. Vladhed 14:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Banner Font?
What's the font for the Homebrew Channel's banner? I want it for a set of app icons I'm making. Krazykevin2000 19:09, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
The font is PF Square Sans, a font by the foundry Parachute. It's a commercial font though unfortunately so I can't share it.-- Soully

SSBB EU firmware update
I'm not sure, this probably needs to be verified, but the newest firmware update on the European release renders at least the homebrew channel useless. Like I said, this needs to be verified. Not that I used the Homebrew Channel at all, though, but still something worth investigating.
Things that stopped working:
- Running homebrew
- Exiting homebrew channel
--GaryCXJk 12:54, 28 June 2008 (CEST)
- I think if it was a problem, more people would have reported it, as many people have bought SSBB (EU). Have you tried removing GC Memory cards? How exactly does it "not work"? Muzer 13:07, 28 June 2008 (CEST)
Ah crap, forgot to take out the memory card in B slot when playing ToS. My bad :P--GaryCXJk 23:21, 28 June 2008 (CEST)
Icon at the bottom right of the screen
I know one of the icons tells you if your connected to the internet, but what does the other icon do? It looks like a hand banana on my small 25 inch tv.--DaveyDucati 20:17, 23 July 2008 (CEST)
It shows if a USB-Gecko connection is active. Alexanderpas 22:46, 4 August 2008 (CEST)

is there a pal version of the homebrew channel?????????

I think that the Homebrew Channel is region free. -rockybulwinkle
sd card icon
i think it is extra to have an sd card icon if you also have an sdhc card icon. i don't think its likely that a program would support sdhc but not support sd. so no icon means not supported at all, sd icon means only sd but no sdhc, and sdhc icon means all supported yossi 12:41, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Does the Homebrew Channel work with system update 3.4?
I tried downloading the Homebrew Channel but it told me that it hasn't been tested on system update 3.4 so I canceled it. Chosen One 41 15:53, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it does work, with the new 3.4 Twilight Hack, just ignore the warning, it's simply there, because 3.4 wasn't out, when the last HBC was made. It should work anyways! chrisis 17:11, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

All first letters should be upper case in "the homebrew channel"?
Is it just me, or should't each word in "the homebrew channel" begin with an upper-case letter like all the official Nintendo channels? (both the hovering text(this one's already "correct"), and the graphic text in the animation of the channel) I think it'd look better following the standard of the other channels.
- I agree its not a huge deal its just one of those pet peaves i guess if thats what you call them. I dont care about grammer much except for capatalizing. Looks professional.
Passing of arguments to main (argc/argv)
Is it possible with the latest release?
Bug with an SDHC Transcend 16GB (HBC version 1.0.1)
When I start the wii and lunch the HBC, it doesn't find the apps on my SDHC card. Then, when I click on Reload and it finds all the apps on my card. Inside apps, my SDHC card works very well, also when I live apps, I come back on the HBC and it works well there too. --Gerome 16:20, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Couldn't you just do this to use homebrew on 4.0
Just take the actual channel file and launch it from the SD card with the new launch from SD card part of 4.0. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 0piggyjelly0 (talk • contribs) 21:47, 28 April 2009
- System Menu 4.0 says, "New install and if copied to the SD card, cannot be move back to the system memory (running a channel requires copying it to memory)." I'm happy to be corrected, but I believe this implies that if the HBC is copied to the SD card, it becomes useless. --IanWatson 02:14, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Should the first paragraph change to say that sys menu 4.0 is supported now with 1.0.2? --ChuckBartowski 04:28, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Someone's selling it?
http://www.homebreware.com/?hop=dvorced08 Is this the HBC packaged on a disc? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluefoxicy (talk • contribs) 12:44, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's just a download. It's also a huge scam, as all of the software included is free. Avoid that site. — Blooper (Talk) 17:55, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Is this true
http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=88083 states the following: "The hacking community is abuzz tonight with talk of what may be Nintendo's latest step to squash piracy.
Word is, if you're trying to go online and play a game such as Mario Kart or The Conduit, there's a new Wii background check to see if you have the Homebrew Channel installed. This check goes on without gamers even knowing. If you're found to have the Homebrew Channel on your Wii, say goodbye to playing anything online. Thanks to Sean for the heads up!"
