My guess is that bannerbomb is much more stable than the TP Hack because i used it and it worked like a charm.

:It's too safe, because it is based on a malformed banner to crash the sysmenu. Because this, it is 0% dangerous and 100% stable, and more simple.--master42 04:41, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

For some reason, everyone thinks that bannerbomb can brick your wii just by running it. It doesnt change the NAND whatsoever. So i was thinking someone might want to mention this on the page maybe?--ChuckBartowski 23:14, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

:I reverted your edit, if the page did need to be edited to show it then you should have added the 'Modifies NAND' tag. but u should talk about it here first and get some evidence, most people who use it have no problems, you probably did something wrong and/or it conflicted with some other hacks because this is pretty safe. --Futurechromex3x 06:49, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Updates for Bannerbomb to work with System Menu 4.2
 +
 +
I did a pretty stupid thing. I wake up, see my Wii glow blue, check my messages and see that it was a 4.2 update. Now thinking that Bannerbomb would work wit it, seeing it clearing says about Bannerbomb working for System Menu 4.0 and newer. Turns out, it deletes the HBC. Seeing that my Brawl no longer works or that I don't have Indiana Jones, I was wondering if you guys would possibly update Bannerbomb so that it could work on 4.2. All those months of Homebrew and watching Youtube vids on MPlayer CE paid off.... Thanks --RPD490 15:49, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

:Impossible, Nintendo have fixed the bug behind bannerbomb (probably). I doubt much effort will be made for bannerbomb, considering there are TWO alternate exploits. But I doubt it would be possible to get it to work again, as my guess is that Nintendo have improved the banner handling code which was exploited. <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by SifJar (talk • contribs) 17:12, 29 September 2009 (UTC)</small>

:::I take back my comment, sorry. I guess it wont be hard to fix after all. I should have guessed that knowing Nintendo, the fix would be half-assed. I mean, it took them about 4 updates to beat Twilight Hack. --SifJar 18:01, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

::::Did your Wii update to 4.2 itself? Why was your Wii Glowing Blue? I thought BannerBomb works on 4.2...
 +
:::::His Wii didn't update itself, that is impossible, there is not code in the System Menu to do that. The disc slot glowed blue because there was a message telling him of the update. And yes, bannerbomb v2 works on 4.2. But v2 was not out when this stuff was posted, its a couple of months old look at the dates --SifJar 12:46, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Rumors that scared me.
 +
 +
I heard a rumor that Nintendo or some "unknown force" will brick your Wii upon the next update or something.  I haven't updated yet.  However, I'm considering it, due to a few WiiWare titles I plan to buy, and yada yada.
 +
 +
Anyway, I really want to play WiiWare, but if Nintendo will really go to such lengths of douchebaggery to even brick the console, then I'm considering unhacking my wii.
 +
:: Don't unhack your Wii, that's just what they want you to do. I will never give in. If my Wii is not hacked it's worthless to me...
 +
 +
In a nutshell, in case of TL;DR:
 +
I may want to unhack my wii (remove bannerbomb).  Is there anyway to do this?  For example, converting to an old firmware or something?--Namo 01:23, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

 +
: Nintendo (or some "other force") can't intentionally brick your Wii. That would give you the right to sue them. The update does remove homebrew, but there are already updates that work around this. You can still buy WiiWare with homebrew installed. Bannerbomb is not something that is installed and it does not do anything permanent. All you need to do to remove bannerbomb is delete the file from the SD card. --bg4545 01:56, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
 +
The bricking of those Wiis isn't related to bannerbomb; homebrewers say it has nothing to do with homebrew but with a Nintendo's buggy code (it can cause a brick in a unmodified wii too) and Nintendo says it can only happen when you have "modified" your console. Anyways that brick occurs when writing to boot2, you don't need to freak out and uninstall everything you have in your wii since the only thing related to boot2 is Bootmii (and only if it was written there), if you are paranoic you can uninstall Bootmii/boot2 (if you have it installed) using the hackmii installer, any other uninstallation will be irrelevant to this issue.--Aruskano 03:04, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

In response to Aruskano, I actually a few times got an error that wii system files were corrupt even before I installed bannerbomb (this occured over a year and a half after I uninstalled the Twilight Hack so I could send my wii in for a repair, and the system error thing occured in July of this year), so maybe you're right, it could be Nintendo's buggy code, because I could simply restart the console and it'd work fine.
 +
I'm confused though.  You say BannerBomb does no permanent effects.  If thats true, then how does the Homebrew Channel work?  In the Twilight Hack you had to keep that save file didn't you?--Namo 10:27, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

:Bannerbomb does nothing to your wii. It only loads a .dol or .elf file e.g. HackMii Installer. It is the HackMii Installer that makes permenant changes to your wii. It installs HBC and DVDx and BootMii (or any combination of those). And you do not need to keep bannerbomb or twilight hack on your SD Card for HBC to work. They are only needed temporarily. Anyway, that System Files are Corrupt message is NOT what Aruskano was talking about. He was talking about how the latest System Menu update is bricking some people because it updates a vital part of the Wii and Ninty's code for updating that part of the wii is buggy and dangerous. And Ninty can NOT brick your Wii on purpose, the worst they can do legally is remove "unautorized modifications" i.e. homebrew. The bricks caused by the latest update are occuring on both homebrewed and non homebrewed wiis. The reason for the update was to remove homebrew, but it is causing bricks for people who have never even heard of homebrew, and most people with homebrew arent updating. --SifJar 14:16, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Does anyone know if this works with the new Wii Shop update? --SandMan 01:56, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

:of course it does. bannerbomb has nothing to do with the shop. only the system menu has the bug used, and it is still the same menu we got with 4.2--Yossi 02:09, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

In SD channel menu, if you press ?-button on rightside, and then Back it will load boot.dol/elf, without any question.
