major cleanup. bugs and feature requests are not wantd here by the author.
I'd like to clean this page up but I don't want to ruffle any feathers. It's getting a bit large IMHO. How about some categories to sort comments? I suggest the following: Bug Reports, Fixed/Addressed, Suggestions, Critiques, and Appreciation. Some of the comments already here kinda fall under more than one category though. --Flark 13:41, 15 August 2008 (UTC) * Sounds like a good idea. I suggest categories in this order, something like this: Appreciation, Fixed Issues, New Bug Reports, Suggestions & Critiques. Use your best judgement when moving stuff to a category or split up the post if it needs 2 categories (and copy the attribution/signature). CarstenK 02:27, 27 August 2008 (UTC)** Please fill up bugs, issues and requests at the Google project page, it's much easier to read and maintain than on this discussion page Fcorbier 14:29, 5 October 2008 (UTC) ==Feature request: NTFS support==Is it possible to implement NTFS support anytime in the near future? == Feature Request ==The v0.0.6 release is working great with DIVX movies. Also internet stream is working fine. Thanks for that! But is it possible to add support for access DIVX movies stored on a DVD. That would be super! Many thanks in advanch ==Display issues?== I have a widescreen NTSC LCD TV that I am using with the YPbPr (red, green, blue) wii connector cable and when I play video files, the video never stretches all the way across the screen horizontally, always leaving black borders at the edges. Furthermore, when video is not in a suitable widescreen/letterbox format, it usually stretches beyond the display area vertically. Flark 23:03, 9 July 2008 (CEST)*Solved by pepsiman and Vader347. But it doesn't work right with the television's own build in zoom/crop functionality. Instead of zooming in, the video output actually gets "squeezed". Not a big deal IMHO, since in v0.04 official, you can manipulate the video output with the nunchuck... so once the widescreen fix is merged with the official version, it should be okay. Just not for zooming/cropping on 4:3 videos. Flark 21:33, 1 August 2008 (CEST)*Concerning the fix in v0.05, it seems to works just fine for NTSC so I am kinda confused why the changelog says it is a PAL fix. Thanks r0n! --Flark 12:54, 15 August 2008 (UTC)*The widescreen fix doesn't work anymore as of 0.06. Please fix it. --Flark 18:28, 3 October 2008 (UTC) == Bugs !! ==Bugs i´ve found MplayerWii v0.02 * .mkv files with 720p crashed (like navarr)* .mkv files are stuttering and crashes sometimes**Yes, I have also had this problem with mkv files stuttering and crashing. MFE Wii had a similar reaction to handling large mkv files. Flark 21:13, 9 July 2008 (CEST)**On some further testing of v0.02, the handling of matroska seems to have gotten better, but still suffers from minor frameskips and occasional crashes. Some files seem to play fine while others will produce an error dump after a few minutes or more. Still, when comparing this to v0.01 using the same files for testing, the handling of mkv is very much improved. Flark 22:55, 9 July 2008 (CEST) I found that any .avi file will crash after 3 seconds. == Thank you !! ==Thank you for this nice release ;) works great for the first release --NIxx:I tried several video files and the new version run almost perfect now USB access would be nice ;) --NIxx  == Buggy Much? ==Crashed Immediately* 18.4 MB* .mkv file* 720p--Navarr 09:35, 6 July 2008 (CEST):why would you play a 720p file when the max output res is 480p?::Thats what the file was when i got it. --Navarr 09:35, 6 July 2008 (CEST):::No, see... you're missing the point. The Wii can't display video at that resolution. At least, it was never intended to. Sure, rgb connections are capable of supporting the signal, but the wii just won't do it. Even if the extra capability could be unlocked through homebrew, the wii hardware would just suck at doing it. Try a video with a lower resolution. Also, you're right. It shouldn't crash. Hopefully this issue will be fixed. Flark 06:25, 7 July 2008 (CEST)::::It should scale it down to fit if the source resolution is greater than the screen resolution. -- Ulti 23:47, 8 July 2008 (CEST):::::You're absolutely right. I finally got around to testing the app. I'm watching a 720x400 file right now (larger than 480p). I noticed that it doesn't stretch horizontally all the way across the entire screen, which seems a bit weird. Flark 04:26, 9 July 2008 (CEST)::::::Hey Flark, you know that 720x480 is 480p right? Spnorth 12:46, 19 August 2009 (CST)::::::: [ Wikipedia] says that 480p can be 640x480, 854x480, 704x480 or 720x480 depending on whether pixels are square and the desired aspect ratio. --Pepsiman 21:30, 19 August 2008 (UTC) August 18th. v.05 Any .avi file will crash after 5 seconds please help?mplayerbugfinder == Awesome! ==but please add at least a pause and stop button :). --Jfitie 10:30, 6 July 2008 (CEST) == Very Promising == I started the application up and it was like the time I ran the initial winamp for the first time and thought "Oh my God, its making music!". Im going to need new pants. The mp3 playback seems flawless so far, except for delayed responses when seeking. The quality is great. When playing video files the debug info will pop up any errors and scroll the video out of focus momentarily. I assume this is normal for now for testing, just incase people decide to complain about it.I even ran a 640 x 360 mov and the image looked great.:Yes, this works surprisingly well. I'm impressed. Also, I hope the verbose way it is running right now doesn't go away in favor of a pretty gui front end. At least not right away. It is very useful for reporting errors. You know what would be better though? Logging to a text file on the sd card. == Very Satisfying == I've been running some tests on how well each file type works. So far, MP3 files play perfectly. I'm listening to "Mann Gegen Mann" by Rammstein right now. :) Tried to watch an episode of Ghost In The Shell in AVI format: audio tended to fall out of sync with the video, and video speeds were variable, as well as audio buffer overflow messages bumping the video up and down. This is a great undertaking, nevertheless. I'm really looking forward to seeing its future capabilities. --Captcouch 01:43, 9 July 2008 (CEST) == Great work == Just tested it with some random stuff, some WMA songs, an AVGN WMV video, a DIVX and a bunch of MP3s, it runned flawlessly from what I saw. Great work. I got a CODE DUMP when I closed the program though. Makawee 17:35, 9 July 2008 (CEST)
Interface
Well if you want to I could design an Interface for you if you're interested you could contact my email ( christian (dot) kaik (at) gmail (dot) com, just replace (dot) with . and (at) with @ ;) ) Would be propably very cool to see some competitor for Wii Miida! So if you're interested, I'm always there with nice ideas ;) Send me a mail --ifletcher
I think the MPlayer has a big potential I mean it supports almost all formats so it would be great to see it working with a nice Ui on the Wii :) Hope ur interested in my Supply!
An idea: subtitles.
I like this homebrew, just tested it for the first time. And I like it. But I miss one feature subtitles for video. We Dutch watch movies commonly with subtitles, so I really need it. Sanderevers 21:28, 16 July 2008 (CEST)
Is it possible to support SRT-files? --Jfitie 08:21, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
This homebrew is amazing, but there is no subtitles support (or hidden :p , and that'd be so great to have this features ! ^^ --Minishlink 06:39, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I use it a lot!!
I really do like it. It plays AVI's well.
One issue I have seen though is it cant handle shadows, smoke and other color contrast areas well, that area of the screen gets all pixelated.
What do you recommend for MMS streaming of movies? I would love to be a beta tester for this. I tried figuring it out in WMP, but its not as straightforward as I would of hoped.
Thanks again, I have watched a movie every night with it for the past 2 weeks.

Support for folders?
It would be nice to be able to use folders. Right now, they can't even be seen, so my usb drive is useless. Thanks for all of your work on this great homebrew! Flark 21:35, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
:Thanks for adding this! --Flark 13:05, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
OGC modifications?
Were you ever planning on putting the source out to your modified versions of libfat/libogc?
:I didn't put any custom modification, the only ones applied are the patches from -Fcorbier 19:33, 2 August 2008 (CEST)
Keyboard support?
Is there going to be usb-keyboard support and "console"/debug -mode (or what you want to call it)? It would be great to input files (samba paths etc.) with keyboard and hit enter and enjoy (like in "real" mplayer). --Quu 16:52, 5 August 2008 (GMT+2)
Small Bug
Its not an important bug, but there seems to be a problem concerning files that have longer-than-usual filenames. It either just crashes the client, or it disallows you to scroll through the files. If you're unable to scroll through the files, you can still go back to the "start-menu" (with lack of a better description), and you are able to scroll there. So it just seems to be a problem for the media-files.
You can just shorten the number of characters in the filename ofcourse, but I thought I'd at least mention it.
mplayer Dvd edition
:::::I'm gonna take a shot at it, shouldn't be too hard. I was gonna do GeeXbox, but ended up crashing it, even though it's based off of Mplayer. Smalls1652 04:33, 16 August 2008 (EST)
Bug divx files not playing
The divx encoded files played fine in .03 but stopped woring in .04 and are still not working in .05 just get a dump screen
Stops playing after 256MB
I was playing a 366MB video file from SD with MPlayerWii v0.5, and it stopped after 256MB. Geexbox was able to play the whole file. --Pepsiman 20:38, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
High Motion Videos Crashing
It's been having severe problems with stuff that is considered "high motion". Good examples would be fullscreen shots of fluid things like the ocean, explosions, large battles, basically anything to cause a huge amount of dramatic change in the video picture. Some types of encodes seem to do better than others, but the problem is always there and it will often lead to a crash, sometimes with a code dump but sometimes not. Trying to skip past the affected areas will often work, but not always... and in some cases will lead to an audio sync problem which can usually be solved by a little further seeking. --Flark 01:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Color Depth
Eventually I hope that a better color depth is used. Sometimes due to the color depth, the video image is very poor. --Flark 01:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Stream Bug
Whenever a file finishes playing (streamed from my computer through vlc and mms), I get sent back to the main menu, but the program stops responding, my wiimote will not re-sync, and my wii has to be restarted manually.
Idea: Stream Names
It would be a lot easier to select a stream if it had a name instead of an ip or url. --Vilhelm 03:08, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
USB support
For some reason it doesnt detect the usb device, it doesnt show any folder, even when i formated it as fat16 and placed the songs in the root dir.
:Why didn't you use fat32? Flark 16:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
