Revision as of 21:01, 28 October 2009

This page is reserved for nominating homebrew for addition to the Featured homebrew page. Note that an application meeting these criteria does not guarantee it will be added - the final decision will be made by a WiiBrew administrator. Do not nominate your own application!

How to nominate

Please use this template:

=== [[Page name|App name]] ===
Reason why the app should be featured. -- ~~~~

Remember to add your nomination to the bottom of the Nominations section. And finally, be sure to make the title a link.

The application must:

  • be completely stable
  • contain no major bugs
  • be of particular use or value
  • be usable by the majority of homebrew users (ie: support for SDHC, PAL, etc.)
  • have a quality WiiBrew wiki page (description, usage, controls, screenshots, etc.)
  • have a quality graphical interface
  • be in one of the following categories: games, emulators, media players, utilities, or loaders
  • be HBC compatible and be packaged with icon.png and meta.xml files
  • not modify the Wii's flash memory (NAND) or otherwise cause permanent changes to the Wii

Also note:

  • This is not a popularity contest - a new application might be a good candidate for this page, provided it meets the criteria above. Other applications, although popular, are not good candidates for this page (eg: Wii64)
  • If there are multiple versions of the same homebrew (eg: MPlayer), the most stable and maintained version will be picked
  • The final decision about whether an application will be added is made by the WiiBrew administrators
  • An application can be re-evaluated for inclusion at a later date

Approved Nominations

Very therapeutic --Pinecone 11:13, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I second the motion!!! :D WaxyPumpkin72 01:19, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Wait, Harmonium isn't already part of our "featured homebrew". Why? It's by far one of the best pieces of homebrew we have.--Arikado 13:26, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

i think its one of the best homebrew apps ever. nice GUI, nice icon(homebrew channel)and sound--pbsds 15:27, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Very calming, certainly has variety and has no problems --Ej 18:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes. I can just sit at night and "doodle" with this for hours, eventually making amazing melodies and harmonies. --Williamdude1 19:49, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Homebrew Browser

This should definately be featured. --Xeron 08:22, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. WaxyPumpkin72 01:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Me too. Its almost a necessary app to have. --ChuckBartowski 00:22, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

MahJongg Wii

I'd like to nominate MahJongg Wii for its excellent implementation of MahJongg, its multiplayer, the ability to mix things up with multiple layouts and tilesets and its overall level of polish - it's one of the slickest looking homebrew games around. -- Insin 12:25, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

I second that. --Elisherer 16:36, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I think it's a great game! --Freigeist 15:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
It has my vote --Bitflusher 21:53, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

MPlayer CE

I think the best "Media Center" program, I use it because it has all the features the other mplayer programs combined, easy to use and widely used by the wii owners. --Elisherer 08:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Piero's Wiicross

Great gameplay, great graphics, great music, great everything! It's also pretty accessible. --SquidMan 05:18, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Snes9x GX, FCE Ultra GX and Visual Boy Advance GX

Still the best way to relive the snes expierience. -- Deathnomore 06:20, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

They are basically the same as Snes9xGX and they have the same features. They should also be featured. -- Goofster1020 09:04, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

All three are excellent apps! And with the DVD playback through DVDX, I can now play all my classics just like popping in a wii game! slyfox299 12:44, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Super Mario War Wii

This game is a feisty little beast!! I have lots of fun playing it!WaxyPumpkin72 01:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

That's the homebrew I have played the most, so it's smww++ -Crayon 02:03, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

I'd also like to nominate WiiEarth. I'm think it meets all the criteria, but even if it falls a little short, it is a really good showcase for Wii homebrew. My wifes aunt has a Wii for her grandchildren, and when she saw WiiEarth, she got me to put the Homebrew Channel on straight away. I never thought they'd be interested in homebrew. --Xeron 08:03, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. Sums it all up for me. --Pinecone 14:57, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to nominate Wiiero because its awesome!! It meets all the requirements, except for maybe not having such good graphics XD, but i think should definitely be included! —Preceding unsigned comment added by WaxyPumpkin72 (talkcontribs) 15:38, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry - no SDHC Support :-( cannot be featured --Graingert 17:35, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Giddy 3

I personally think Giddy 3 is an amazingly polished bit of homebrew. Simple controls, well executed, professional looking graphics. It's a joy to play, both gameplay wise and technically. -- Sheepeh 19:49, 30th May 2009 (BST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheepeh (talkcontribs) Revision as of 18:58, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to second this - if only one nomination is required, please disregard this with my apologies. I've recently been introduced to Wii Homebrew, and for me, Giddy 3 stands out. It's also one of the only games my girlfriend likes to play, which must count for something! It's got more polish, humour and playability than a lot of commercial software I've recently played, and has an 'old school' feel that I love. -- CUS 4:04PM, 30th May 2009 (PST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by CUS (talkcontribs) 23:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Still the coolest thing around. --Pinecone 11:13, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Seconded! Any game with physics is my kind of game! --Gameboy13 9:32, 19 June 2009

My favorite homebrew game! --fudgenuts64 5:34. 07 September 2009

Cute, fun, and simple addictive puzzle game with decent graphics and amusing soundtrack. Good for all ages, attractive design, and no bugs. --Flark 17:46, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I second this. I just cleaned up the grammar on the Wiki page. Muzer 20:40, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Gecko OS

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. It's a very good app. Meets all the requirements, I believe. WaxyPumpkin72 07:08, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

This should of been featured in the first place! This app has helped me a lot! Gameboy13 02:00, 23 July 2009 (UTC) —Preceding undated comment added 19:03, 23 July 2009 (UTC).

I'd say it certainly deserves a featured place. It was the main reason I initially homebrewed my Wii. ~ PhoenixTank | talk | contribs | 09:09, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

By far one of the best homebrew applications around, wasn't maintained for a while, but brkirch has been updating it quite frequently lately.--MattMan 18:16, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

This is a very good app. I was surprised when it wasn't already featured. Abyrne55 20:03, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I think it should be featured. It's just great. Is capable to load import games without using that freakin' Free Loader; and many other things. Plus, wasn't it included on the apps pack on hbc.hackmii.com since the beginning (OK, I know the *.rar was removed)? Also, is often used by many people that have installed the HBC on their Wii's; and it's almost certainly it can't brick or fail on a load (remember that will detect the IOS used by the game and install it without updating the firmware) (can this be considered as a NAND permanent modification?). Who hasn't use this piece of art? Oh well, the facts speak for themselves...--PabloACZ 20:57, 06 September 2009 (UTC).

This game rocks. Like Geometry wars but original concepts and a lot more fun. Four players, Gamecube and Wiimote+Nuncuck controller support, even some bosses. Very playable and very retro style game. I showed the game to a friend and he finally decided to make his Wii homebrew able. So I think its a good app to show off. -- Shadow1w2 21:05, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

I think this game should be featured, for couple of reasons. The page is neat, its small in size. The Graphical layout is quite nice looking. all around its just a good 2 player game for homebrew, that all ages can play. Sorry if i did this Wrong, im new to this. User:Hatredg0d 12:51 2 August 2009 —Preceding undated comment added 17:57, 2 August 2009 (UTC).

this game is awesome, has frets on fire song support, and multiplayer, and best of all, has pretty good graphics Calthephenom 19:19, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

I think this this app should be featured because it is an epic file explorer, better than SD Explorer and fits the criteria perfectly. Just look at it's talk page. Thank you Dimok, R-win, and NeoRame for making an epic app.-- Refresh100 22:28, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Seconded. This app is great! Its so clean and nifty!! It looks really nice. This should be featured. WaxyPumpkin72 05:10, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

I also think this app is great and deffinatly deserves a place in the featured list, Did you know it can boot boot.elf files as well as boot.dol files??? Also I was browsing through my files on my SD Card and found an old hack mii installer V 0.2 so know I have the new homebrew channel and the old one!!!! Aidanwiibrew 07:44, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

It has nice graphics and can do just about anything from booting executables to deleting files. It sould be featured. 30jon —Preceding undated comment added 03:38, 14 October 2009 (UTC).

This is about the most polished homebrew app I've seen. Very nice graphics and very friendly controls. The wiki page isn't top-notch yet, but it has a screenshot and video. --Mu mind 03:16, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Since when 360° arm twists are friendly? — Extrems (talkcontribs) 08:07, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Actually, you never have to twist your arm more than 90° in each direction, and that's one of the things I thought was so friendly about the controls. The twist angles are skewed so that tipping 90° CW or CCW steers you straight down. --Mu mind 13:01, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
