ircii will be an IRC client for the Wii. I created it out of frustration for these reasons:

  • Web-based clients are the only option for the Wii afaik, and many are/can be blocked. I hate it.
  • I hate having to retype things constantly using the Wii's on-screen keyboard and perform hundreds of Google searches.

ircii aims to change that:

  • It makes a connection directly to the server to bypass web client blocks
  • It attempts to be low-overhead

Status

I can initialize the network, however this has only been tested with my LU34 Wii with a large TV. I will test with a smaller TV later. No source code will be released yet as I am not done with most of the code and GUI, however I will open-source it.
