Wiki bug
Dunno if this is just me, but when browsing the WiiBrew wiki in Google Chrome, the links that usually appear directly beneath the WiiBrew logo are very far down the page. Works fine in Firefox and other browsers, only appears to be Chrome. Anyone else get this? --SifJar 20:15, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- I can confirm this using the Beta version of Google Chrome for Linux (Ubuntu 9.04), where the left pane always starts in the same column, but below the main right side.-Kage Korosu 21:04, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- I can also confirm this bug (i'm using the exact same specs as Kage). This is just a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing this is how GChrome's modified version of WebKit rendering engine (the same one that Safari uses, only modded) handles it.Abyrne55 23:54, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- huh, i just thought thats how it was. iv never logged on here in Ubuntu i guess, only on windows which i use chrome for default browsing. strange.--Hatredg0d 03:11, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Ohhh, i see what your saying now, when your not logged in it appears below the page contents, the strange thing is that it only started doing this to me after installing this http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/aboutGFW/pages/directx.aspx and yes, only in chrome after that update to direct X. --Hatredg0d 23:04, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- This bug seems to be fixed as of Chrome version 4.0.249.21 for Linux -Kage Korosu 04:12, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed on windows as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Badkarma12 (talk • contribs) 21:57, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Featured Section
Featured section is total win. Esp. the media part. --ChuckBartowski 06:27, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- Wait, are you joking? --Zack 17:00, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Just made a really easy to follow and simple guide to adding homebrew support to your Wii, would love to add it to the media section ... just don't know how --Toby 22:54, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
ad feedback
I'm really starting to get sick of the ads like "Play downloaded wii games"... If we cannot post about piracy, then the same rules should apply to the ads. Toagac 16:13, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- We have control over Google AdSense? — Extrems (talk • contribs) 16:30, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, there's an option to "control competitor ads." Just type in their domains and their ads won't appear. I know you don't compete with them, by the way. I'm just trying to help. --Zack 17:52, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- You know how many pages there are on Google about Wii piracy? I'll give you a clue - a LOT. And the owner of the AdSense account doesn't have the time to manually remove every one of them, especially as more are added daily. Just get an Ad Blocker in your browser. --SifJar 20:12, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Suggestions
Add this too the main page http://translate.google.com/translate_tools. Randomdude 02:51, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Under the Homebrew navigation section could you add Homebrew in development? Gamewizard71 01:35, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's already under the section Development. Crayon 01:58, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- No the Sidebar navigator under the Wiibrew LOGO. Gamewizard71 22:53, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
We should setup a general standard for programs, i.e. buttons use for control, exit procedure, interface layout, icon size/byte, etc. esp. crash prevention/rescue mechanism (like reserved INTs for reset). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iowii (talk • contribs) 08:01, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
WinZip® has developed a new compression algorithym which compresses even more tightly than rar/zip. Can the word be spread to have developers consider implementing *.zipx® support in general? XL-DJK —Preceding undated comment added 18:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC).
- this is REALLY not the right place for this. if you had taken a second to read the box at the top of this page you would have seen that this page is about the wiki NOT about the wii. you should probably post this on the talk pages of the emulators that support compressed roms. start here --Yossi 19:05, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- You should provide a link to the source code of this new compression algorithm. Without that, your suggestion is kind of useless. --Crayon (talk) 19:11, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
well I have been using this a long time and I have been wondering if anyone has been working on a way to transfer gamesaves to the vbagx save file and also if anyone is working on a sega dreamcast emulator because that would be an amazing advancement in homebrew emulation i think. Logo
I think that the logo in the upper right could stand for a change. It seems like something that was thought up at the founding of the site and never really evolved. Maybe we could get someone to work on it. --Williamdude1 02:01, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Go for it. As long as you leave the one on the upper-left alone. -- MetaFight 11:16, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I'll post an idea soon... --Elisherer 06:50, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- (Oops, I meant the upper left. The one with the faucet on the wii console)--Williamdude1 23:08, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- No! I like that logo! Maybe the colors could be tweaked a bit or something, but it definitely does not need to be replaced. (But then, there are those who would oppose any change... I suppose I am being one of those right now.) — SheeEttin 21:27, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you use the nostalgia skin, the logo is on the right, see? --Yossi 21:53, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Search broken?
It looks like the search results are all out of date. Is there an indexer that hasn't been running lately? Mu mind 13:12, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- ya it doesn't have enough redirects, or they get deleted. if i want to find something here that i dont know the exact spelling or spaceing i just google whatever it is im looking for with wiibrew at the end, then its the top result. example: startpatch, so i type in google "startpatch wiibrew". works like a charm for me. --Hatredg0d 03:07, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, we're using a Lucene-based indexer that occasionally falls over. If you notice this happen, it's probably best to come on IRC and try to get the attention of someone there (say, Mha). -- Bushing 00:41, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Ads
I just recently noticed that now there is an ad in the middle of the Wiibrew main page... And it's annoying... Gamewizard71 01:57, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I just realized that you have a Adsense Template on the Main Page... Why? Gamewizard71 01:59, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sure they'd be more than happy to remove the ads if you decided to pay the operation costs of running this site. I don't understand why you won't pay their operation costs... and it's annoying... -- MetaFight 12:05, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Served! Seriously, you want to see annoying ads, look at x10.com. dictionary.com has gotten pretty bad, too. I will say that real-estate-wise, it would be nice if they cut the height in half, maybe put another small one elsewhere... But yeah, you're complaining to the wrong people. --Mu mind 12:42, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

try this: homepage-V2--Aujakev 14:41, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- That was deleted, so dont bother trying it. Anyway, get yourself Firefox and install AdBlock+ (or you can get it for Chrome as well), and you can enjoy ad free web browsing. --SifJar 14:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have that, but i was thinking of the people who dont have firefox, --Aujakev 13:49, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

I understand there must be ads to help pay costs, but just now I got THIS ad on the front page:
"How To Unlock WIi Unlock Wii Without Zelda Twilight Top Wii Unlock Sites Reviewed Here! WiiHomebrewGuide.Net"
They are selling information that is freely available on this site.... Isn't that a slap in the face? It's like having porn ads on a christian site. And people coming here might mistake it for a guide that is endorsed by this site.... --Mr. Reaper 03:05, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Feature for Wiki
Since the Homebrew Channel can load from USB, but some apps wont, there should be a small box near the app description (Autor, download, etc) that says if its loadable via USB Yes/No. cuz i dunno if its just me but the app Cheat Manager (from HBB) when i load it from USB it faills to start. --Wiiman1 04:13, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
RSS
This has been down for a few weeks, is this gonna be permanent? Beegee7730 17:27, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Another Odd Bug
When I first load the main page there is always the same announcements and releases. However, if i refresh the page, I can see the newer things. I am not sure what causes this. I am using Safari on Mac OS X. --TopGun96 19:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- This also happens to me. I'm on Windows XP and using Chrome 4.0.249.30 (However this bug happened on previous versions of Chrome also!) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Badkarma12 (talk • contribs) 21:57, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- that has to do with the browser settings.. its not a bug in the wiki.--:~Love the World~: 06:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Latest homebrew releases - user name links
Some users are not linking their user names to their user account pages when releasing and modifying the - Latest homebrew releases on the main page, instead they are linked to their projects website. I personally think they need to be linked to their WiiBrew user account page, it's not a great idea to let users create links to external sites on the main page. --Scanff 00:24, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- I completely agree. However, I think linking to their sites on the application page would be fine.--Arikado 01:35, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Some Apps Aren't Listed
Some apps like Sadmenu despite being labeled in the correct category, aren't listed in the list of homebrew apps. It would be nice to see all of the apps :) --Lpq430 22:58, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think you have to add them yourself. Would be nice to have them auto populate but I'm not sure if the wiki can do that. Also this probably should go in that discussion page not the main page. --Scanff 17:07, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
- It's a site thing, not a Sadmenu issue, so I put this on the front page discussion page since there's not a more fitting place to put it. I'm going to manually add some apps I like to the list :P --Lpq430 20:55, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Let's try Unprotect
I don't see much vandalism recently, so lets try downgrading the edit protection to edit=autoconfirmed, move=sysop. Keyboard mouse 00:18, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Why should we unprotect it? The protection is why you don't see vandalism. -- Bushing 07:29, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
