Doom?

I thought WAD was a Doom format. So I guess we won't get any ports of Doom engine games on Wii Shop Channel. --Tepples 08:19, 20 May 2008 (PDT)

Same extension, nothing else is similar. In doom, wad stands for "Where's all the data?" but in the wii it just means a wad of stuff, which means the ticket, banner and content. Muzer 09:16, 20 May 2008 (PDT)
I was wondering. I thought it might have been an Acronym for something, like Wii.. archive... data... something. --Phred 22:46, 20 May 2008 (PDT)

Certs

Hey, I've been looks at the .CERT files for some WAD files. First off, I legally obtained the files off of my own disks, and used a homebrew wad for the second one. The update WAD I looked at was a little different from the homebrew one. On line 1EE of my hex editor, the first byte is 1A. In the homebrew one it is 9C. Could this mean that the update wads are signed by a different cert than the ones we make (using common-key)? Maybe they are signed with the "Dev certs"? Talk please ;) -Rsrockerz 04:27, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
