Template talk:Infobox homebrewapp
From WiiBrew
I think it would be easier to use something like [[Image:{{{image}}}|200px]] (with the #if statement other stuff). Like that we only need to put the name of the file (no code needed). And everyone has the same size for their image. I'm willing to change all Infobox homebrewapp if it's accepted/modified. - Crayon
- Even better, let's make it take a list of what peripials that works and ditch those lame templates that does nothing more than wrap images? --henke37 14:39, 15 May 2008 (PDT)
- I was not talking about peripherals, but about top image. But, your right, it would be better for peripherals to use a list. - Crayon
- Sure, go ahead. Felix123 03:17, 16 May 2008 (PDT)
- I was not thinking about a list like this. Sure, we should list the avalible icons, but I meant that we should pass THIS template what peripherals that is supported and then this template will add the proper icons and categories. For example smething like this:
{{Infobox homebrewapp|Wiimote=4|GCC=4|CC=4|SD=Yes}} The numbers is the max amount of supported controllers for each type. --henke37 05:09, 16 May 2008 (PDT)
- I just realized that we should have a sub box beneat the generic info as a dedicated space for this info.--henke37 05:11, 16 May 2008 (PDT)

Mobile phone
GeeXboX works with certain mobile phones. Do we need another icon? Felix 04:42, 17 July 2008 (CEST)
- No, as it is not a part of the Wii version of it. --Blooper4912 02:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Full Homebrew Channel Support
I think it would be a good idea to define what Full Homebrew Channel Support means. Make a list of requirements like:
- The game works when booted from the Home Brew Channel (Obviously)
- A meta.xml file in the package
- An icon.png in the package
- The executable is named boot.dol or boot.elf
- The ability to reboot and/or return to the homebrew channel (I think "or", because otherwise many applications wouldn't apply anymore)
- Runs out of the box without the need of any datafiles not in the package (This probably isn't a good idea)
I'm not saying that we should have all these requirements, they are just suggestions. Mechaelvis 08:03, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
DVD or Wiidisc
What the difference between this two options? If i understand Widisc is for hombrew that access to Wii DVD Games and DVD is for classic DVD? I don't think there will be any hombrew that access to Wii DVD game. - Yod4z 14:37 GMT+1
- Disc dumper, save extractor etc. Felix 13:29, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Indicator for 16:9 Support
It would be nice to have an indicator for those apps which have patched their code to properly handle wide screen displays. I currently know of only four such apps + the next version of HBC. Flark 23:57, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- I have added a new widescreen parameter to the template. --Blooper4912 02:30, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Close enough. :) Flark 17:16, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think that information should go in the Display section?--Crayon 18:28, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think like Crayon--Yod4z 22:22, september 2008 GMT+1
- Yeah that sounds good. Flark 00:39, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, I forgot about that display parameter. :P I'll remove the widescreen one. --Blooper4912 02:21, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- So then I guess ---->this<---- is how it should be done properly? Flark 04:52, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
SDHC Indicator
Now that the HBC supports SDHC cards, does the infobox template need an indicator for SDHC support or non-support? Loading an app in the HBC from an SDHC card when said app does not support SDHC cards would likely be problematic if that app will be loading or saving anything to/from the card. Older abandoned apps will obviously not get the updated support... As I understand it, a patch for the support has been submitted to libogc. Flark 09:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- I made a little SDHC image; it's in the HBC article. Marcan 10:17, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Screenshots
Because the image = [[...]] line is usually used for a logo (and putting multiple images into the image line doesn't look good):
Would it be okay to add another line to the infobox, containing a link to one or more screenshots of an application ? (Preferably below the 'source' line) --Alanceil 23:47, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- If you want to include screenshots, it is best to include them directly into the article, as it clutters the infobox. Take a look at the coding of MahJongg Wii if you want to make a gallery of screenshots. --Blooper (Talk) 01:02, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- You're right, this is a much better solution - thanks for the link --Alanceil 22:06, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Proposed change in dealing with unofficial builds
I'm not sure if everyone is happy with the current situation regarding these. The typical thing to do is shove them in at the end of the original app's wikipage but now it looks like we might start seeing separate pages devoted to them as with AnyTitle_Deleter_MOD. This is just messy and a single way of dealing with unofficial builds needs to be established.
So then, what if we had some kind of indicator/link for unofficial builds in the homebrew infobox? It should be quite easy to just have all unofficial versions of all homebrew apps on a single page with sections organized alphabetically by the title of the originating application. They could then be directly linked to *by section* right from a homebrewapp's infobox. Does that make sense? It's a lot "cleaner" that way, I think, since they don't need much information to accompany them other than:
- 1. Download link(s)
- 2. Link to Diff(s)
- 3. Layman's Description of modifications
- 4. Icon
... and none of that will have to go anywhere on the official page for the application they are based on anymore, keeping things nice and tidy. -Flark 12:57, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
