Talk:Wii Shop and IOS61 installer
From WiiBrew
I tried using this to update the Wii Shop, and everything went fine but when i run the Wii Shop Channel it still wants to update. --Mgarde 14:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Use WiiSCU instead, this is outdated now, and IOS61 is now needed, along with a more recent Shop Channel. Use WiiSCU to install these.--SifJar 20:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your suggestion. I used WiiSCU to update the Wii Shop Channel as well as installing IOS61 but it made no difference. When starting the Wii Shop Channel, it still wants me to update. --Mgarde 19:22, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Huh. I'd just update to 4.1, it wont do any damage, and homebrew will still work fine. A couple of things wont work, but homebrew on a whole will be fine. The only things that wont work are things like preloader. --SifJar 15:43, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice. I used the the official Wii System Update to update my Wii, hoping that this would actually update the Shop Channel. The update worked without a hitch, and without affecting my homebrew. It hasn't fixed the Shop Channel though. Whenever i click on the Channel, it still wants me to update. --Mgarde 19:11, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Wait, you used the OFFICIAL Wii System Update?? And your homebrew still worked?? Anyone else reading what I am?? Slinden 02:15, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

- Check the date - I believe Mgarde updated his/her Wii the day before the Nintendo update that deletes the HBC and DVDX and would therefore not lose that functionality. Striped snake 22:38, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- Just to add my data, I tried updating the shop channel on 3.2J using the shop channel updater and it resulted in an error message no matter what I did. I also tried updating to 4.2J using one of the 'safe' updaters that doesn't mess with stub IOSs or any homebrew applications, and even though it displays 4.2J on my system menu I still get the same error when trying the shop channel. The shop channel wants something that the official 4.2 update installs that is left out of the fixed/safe updaters made by modders. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vmercury (talk • contribs) 08:18, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
