Dop-IOS

Err, Why? Isn't this useful ...? Nago 18:22, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Very useful, but it bricked my Wii! I just "doped" IOS50 and it installed a stub IOS50... Thanks to BootMii I was able to reload the program and install a proper IOS50. Shdwcoder 21:08, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Really? That's very strange. You were on 3.4, right? Stub IOSes can't be installed with Dop-IOS (you can only install old versions with minus button). I'll take a look at it, thank you for your information. And sorry about your brick, fortunately you were able to save it! -- Marcmax 08:03, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I was able to press "A" and install a stub IOS.--MattMan 16:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I just pressed A and it allowed me to install a stub IOS50. I'm on a 3.4U Wii with the updated installed from the PunchOut Game disc. If you need any more info, just ask, I will keep watching this page! I was able to install a older IOS50 using the "minus" button and it works perfectly. Shdwcoder 16:44, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your information, I'll fix that in the next version :) -- Marcmax 19:57, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I guess I'll chip in with what I think: I've been stuck on 3.2U for a while, but of course, not having updated through nintendo since then, stuff was starting not to work right anymore, but with all the misinformation the pirate putzes spread, I was too afraid to change anything. This was nice to see what was out of date and update it, very cool. Between this and WiiSCU I think my Wii is the most up to date it's ever been; but I like this app more than WiiSCU. Where are you pulling the "Current" IOS versions from-- Is there a way to compare versions of Installed and Available shops, too? You could swallow the functionality of WiiSCU also; it does a handful of IOSes itself. Could be a very handy AIO tool for updating. Nago 21:03, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I released v5 fixing a silly bug that I introduced on v3. Now you won't be able to install stubs. -- Marcmax 12:30, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

I am on System Menu 4.0 and it allowed me to dop IOS60, which is what the system menu uses. Thankfully I had bootmii installed. Ccfman2004 04:40, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes. It can patch IOS60 when you are on 4.0, that's not a problem. In fact, you must patch IOS60 if you want to run trucha games, even the readme file tells you to do it. --Marcmax 06:24, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Then why after I dopped it, my wii would not work. I would get an error message that I could not read because it was garbled. I am still trying to fix my Wii. Ccfman2004 16:11, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

What System Menu are you running? As Nintendo uses a new IOS for the System Menu, they turn the older IOS into a non-functional stub. (When 3.4 came out, it used IOS50, and turned IOS30, used by 3.3, into a stub.) Perhaps you installed such an IOS? --Dialexio 16:34, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
You need to reinstall Preloader if you had it installed before patching IOS60.--MattMan 17:58, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

The problem is that I now need a version of preloader that installs automatically as my Wii Remote no longer syncs in the Homebrew Channel or any app launched from there. If I use Gecko OS to Launch a Wii game the Wii remote works perfectly. Ccfman2004 18:22, 24 July 2009 (UTC) EDIT: Or a version that uses the GameCube controller. Ccfman2004 18:25, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Next time read the Dop-IOS page here on WiiBrew, because it tells you that doping IOS60 with Preloader installed can lead to a brick. Try to synchronize your WiiMotes via hardware (red button).--Marcmax 19:22, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Already tried that. I can use the Wii Remote to turn the Wii on so it is synced to the Wii and I can use the Wii remote in Wii games. Ccfman2004 20:44, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

I should have realised this would happen, someone trying to compete with WiiSCU. Looking at the src this looks like a good app. Now it's time for me to go and improve WiiSCU :P Wack0(t/c) 18:00, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

I never tried to compete with WiiSCU. In fact, I discovered WiiSCU after coding the first version of Dop-IOS ;) --Marcmax 19:22, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Requirements

Does this require a trucha bugged IOS to install others? Or if we have a newest of newest system we can install trucha bugged ioses on this one? --Daid 16:34, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, you need a trucha bugged IO249. But maybe I can add an option to select an IOS. -- Marcmax 19:57, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Is it recommended to?

Update all ios's available and add sig hash if asked? Wiill 17:03, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I recommend to update all IOS to their newer versions, but it's safer to update through the official method (game disc or internet). Then apply the patch with Dop-IOS to the IOSes you are going to really use. Example: if you are going to use a trucha disc you need your System Menu IOS patched (IOS60 for 4.0, IOS50 for 3.4, etc.) and then patch the IOS your game uses (mostly IOS21 and IOS36). I don't recommend to patch every IOS, it's not necessary. Anyway, I recommend to apply ES_Identify patch to IOS36 because it's useful for a lot of homebrew applications.--Marcmax 22:53, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! but i still dont understand trucha disc's are they, the ISO games that you download and put them onto a disc and play them through the disc channel? (or gecko os)?(im on 3.3 without the october update,so what do you recommend i patch?) Wiill 00:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Downloading ISOs? You should know better than to mention it here.
The term "Trucha-signed disc" is quite self explanatory; it's an ISO that has a Trucha signature. It has modifications that Nintendo frowns upon, such as custom Guitar Hero songs or a removed update partition. --Dialexio 04:39, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

More ES_Functions

Could we have more ES_functions for apps like anytitle deleter?--Flyguy 17:01, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Missing Trucha Patch

IOS30 doesn't give you the option to trucha patch it. also v2576 of IOS30 should be the latest of them, I tested it with system menu 3.2 and it worked fine.--594rk 13:38, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

IOS30 is a stub now, for that reason (and for security reasons too) Dop-IOS will only allow you to install an old version. The old version does not need trucha patch. I think v2576 had the trucha bug fixed, but it's not the latest version. --Marcmax 12:39, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
I had a old version of IOS30 with the signing bug, after I updated it with dop-ios, the trucha bug was gone and homebrew that used IOS30 started to give me errors. There is a newer version of IOS30 than v2576 that isn't a stub?--594rk 00:09, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
IOS30 v2816, which is a stub, is the only IOS30 newer than v2576. Just curious, what homebrew still uses IOS30? --Dialexio 06:24, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Internet Updatable Config

It may be more useful to users to have an internet viewable .ini (or some config file) which instructs Dop-IOS as to the latest versions, and which IOSes are available, etc. Instead of releasing a whole new version for each update/change. Nago 07:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like a perfect way to have more idiots brick wiis (there own or others). --Daid 11:33, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Not All IOS's Are Latest Versions...

I highly appreciate your work, marcmax, but this time you didn't include the newer versions of the old IOSes (up to IOS37) in the update. Is there any chance you'll be releasing v9 that can install these anytime soon? Helsionium 20:10, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi :-) Give me the IOS names and their version numbers that are missing and I'll add them to Dop-IOS MOD--Arikado 20:41, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
That would be great. Just look at the "Titles Changed" section of this Wiimpersonator report for the version numbers of the updated IOSes. Helsionium 07:09, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

I noticed this too! After installing Waninkoko's Firmware Updater v4.2, I needed to downgrade IOS30, and remove the sig-hash from IOS61. When scrolling through the IOS's, I noticed SEVERAL version numbers were not up-to-date. My system had newer versions installed than Dop-IOS could install. For instance, after downgrading IOS30, I cannot go back to the latest version! Hopefully, a update will come out soon! =) TiMeBoMb 11:34, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
