Signing your posts

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and WiiBrew pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Signature icon.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Legality

I am definitely not an expert but I do know that [most, if not all] homebrew is not illegal. The Homebrew Channel is an unauthorized modification and it does void your warranty, but that doesn't mean it's illegal. The HBC was created and coded by Team Twiizers and uses no code from Nintendo so it is completely legal. There are some homebrew apps that are of questionable legality but they are not permitted here on WiiBrew. All Nintendo is saying is that your warranty will be null and void and you may be banned from using online services if you use unauthorized software. It has been reported many times that people who cheat in online games (using homebrew such as Gecko OS) will be banned. Nintendo has the right do that and to remove unauthorized software with an update as long as they inform users that this software will be removed (and they always do). Nothing on WiiBrew is illegal in any way. Unauthorized of course, but still completely legal. That's all I have to say. --bg4545 23:38, 3 September 2010 (CEST)

Yes true, the same thing could be applied to themes, but the point is that those themes are not allowed here on WiiBrew. It is WiiBrew's rules that I'm talking about, not the law. He was trying to get around the rules of this site posting links to another site which allows themes prohibited here. Super Mario War Wii was created by a homebrewer. It does not use official sprites and is entirely fan-made; It only uses the names of the characters and that's perfectly fine. Emulators are also legal because they are not stealing code or anything; ROMs of course are usually illegal and are prohibited here. It is not illegal for them to remove unauthorized software, regardless of whether it is legal or not. Sure someone could dispute it, but there's really no need. They inform you with every update that unauthorized software will be removed. Who cares what Nintendo thinks is illegal, I'm "policing" the rules of this site. --bg4545 23:34, 5 September 2010 (CEST)
