I look forward to seeing the results of this project. How about hosting it @ code.google.com/p/ (or somewhere similar) so others can see your source and perhaps contribute? --Pinecone 23:36, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

: Thanks for your interest. I plan on releasing things as often as possible, so as soon as I have something worth presenting, I will have a demo available for all to play with. I know this project will ultimately be open-source, but I'm still not sure if I want to release the source for the early demo builds right away. Either way, there's plenty of room for people to help, either by sharing ideas or answering questions / solving problems (see user page). :) --PunMaster 06:48, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow, that's really impressive. (Personally I'd pull the youtube video down as the divx video makes you work look much better). Great work with the documentation too. If the point comes where you decide to make it open source that is going to be very handy for everyone else. I am looking forward to testing out your preview app on my Wii when I get the chance. Cheers Ensign R 07:49, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

: I agree that the YouTube video quality is pitiful at best. Unfortunately, I fear that many people would overlook the project if they didn't get the see-something-working-in-under-three-seconds convenience of the YouTube version. I can only hope that those who find the low-quality video interesting will also take a look at the good version and the actual application. As for the source, I simply don't have time to manage an open-source project right now. Sorry. --PunMaster 08:07, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

* Unfortunately your demo isn't available through the Homebrew Browser, which is my preferred way of installing things on the Wii. Primarily because I am lazy, and secondly because my card reader is actually an old crappy camera and (stupidly) requires batteries in it to connect to the PC. The batteries need charging atm so I guess I'll have to wait. Anyways is there any chance of you requesting to be added to the HBB. I'd also conclude that you'd get more people checking out your demo that way too. Cheers --Ensign R 03:29, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

: I have never played with the Homebrew Browser so I can't say I have much experience there, but if they are willing to host my rather large download (which has a long list of files that MUST be in the correct places on the SD card), then I'd be glad to see it up there. I guess I'll have to see if they can (and will) support my project. P.S. Newegg has SD readers for under $10 (and it's quite possibly the best $10 a Wii modder can spend). :) --PunMaster 03:33, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

* Hi PunMaster. I saw the youtube video and I'm extremely impressed. If I get some time over the summer, I'd love to develop an app with your engine. Keep up the good work! One complaint about the demo though; I'm unable to use it because I do not have a mouse or keyboard :( --Arikado 14:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

* you are now using halo maps from the game. there are custom halo maps http://www.halomaps.org/ and if you write a little converter app people can help you getting more maps into your demo even before you release any sources. Bitflusher 18:15, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

: As I said a quite a few times, the only reason there are Halo maps in FiSSION right now is because they were a good, easy demonstration of the engine's current capabilities. I have no intention on doing anything else with Halo in terms of the FiSSION project. I do plan on releasing a model converter so that people can import custom content into FiSSION, but it will be meant to work with modeling programs (Blender, 3ds Max, etc.), and have no support whatsoever for decompiling Halo maps. --PunMaster 21:20, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

* Hi, I'm sorry you missunderstood my intentions when edited yesterday. I just had almost no time to write and just added a little line as a reference to document that you're not alone in this kind of projects. Actually the information you wrote is not true, this is not the first 3d engine for a console, it's not even the first for wii. Revolution Engine's first version was released in september 2008, I think. However, I apologise because I shouldn't have added that line without permision. By the way, I'm just a developper, just like you are, and don't mind sharing my knowledge on wii, that I learnt by programming my own engine, so if you have any doubt or something, you can contact me at wiibrew forums, for example. --Technik
 +
: No problem. Just be careful not to step on other people's toes, so to speak. :) I realize that this may not be the first homebrew console game engine, but I (personally) feel it is the first with the specific goals I have in mind, and I hope it will turn out to be more successful than any previous project. I'll see if I can reword my statement to better reflect this idea. Obviously, I don't mean to disrespect your or anybody else's project. But I do ask that if you are going to be talking about projects other than FiSSION, you keep it on the discussion page. Thank you for understanding. By the way, it makes things easier if you sign your posts on the discussion. :) Thanks again. --PunMaster 03:33, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

* Is there any forum or website where you have posted the goals you have in mind? I think it could be interesting for both of us to know more about the other's project. Since there is not much documentation about wii hardware, sharing knowledge is alwais positive. So, if is there anything you want to know about my engine, or how it works, just tellme. You can contact me at wiibrew forums. --Technik, 4 February 2009

: Right now, the only things I have published / explained are what you see here. Honestly, I don't want to go on a rant about all of the (amazing) expectations I have for FiSSION right now because I prefer to put my work before my words, so to speak. So we'll just have to see how this progresses. If things work out, you'll be seeing some pretty cool things very soon (and I'll keep you updated every step of the way). Obviously, if I have any questions, you'll see me on the Forums. Otherwise, all I can do is keep working on it. Thanks for the interest, and happy coding. :) --PunMaster 17:26, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

: You couldn't have picked a better time to ask! Now that I have the demo behind me, I have started work on "0xIDE", a GUI game editor for FiSSION. One of the goals of this project from the beginning has been ease-of-use, so a nice editor is an essential part of the package. :) I'll post more info and screenshots later. Although the full source-code is still safely curled up next to my private documents, I don't want all of the things I am learning while coding this project to go unknown to the rest of the world. Likewise, I have created a section here for people to ask about the technical aspects of FiSSION. If FiSSION does something you would like to know how to do, or you are having trouble replicating some of FiSSION's functionality in your own code, I should be able to point you in the right direction. Just be patient. Responding to a ton of in-depth questions will take some time. :) --PunMaster 08:07, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
