Display issues?

I have a widescreen NTSC LCD TV that I am using with the YPbPr (red, green, blue) wii connector cable and when I play video files, the video never stretches all the way across the screen horizontally, always leaving black borders at the edges. Furthermore, when video is not in a suitable widescreen/letterbox format, it usually stretches beyond the display area vertically. Flark 23:03, 9 July 2008 (CEST)

Solved by pepsiman and Vader347. But it doesn't work right with the television's own build in zoom/crop functionality. Instead of zooming in, the video output actually gets "squeezed". Not a big deal IMHO, since in v0.04 official, you can manipulate the video output with the nunchuck... so once the widescreen fix is merged with the official version, it should be okay. Just not for zooming/cropping on 4:3 videos. Flark 21:33, 1 August 2008 (CEST)

Bugs !!

Bugs i´ve found MplayerWii v0.02

• .mkv files with 720p crashed (like navarr)
• .mkv files are stuttering and crashes sometimes
  • Yes, I have also had this problem with mkv files stuttering and crashing. MFE Wii had a similar reaction to handling large mkv files. Flark 21:13, 9 July 2008 (CEST)
  • On some further testing of v0.02, the handling of matroska seems to have gotten better, but still suffers from minor frameskips and occasional crashes. Some files seem to play fine while others will produce an error dump after a few minutes or more. No, see... you're missing the point. The Wii can't display video at that resolution. At least, it was never intended to. Sure, rgb connections are capable of supporting the signal, but the wii just won't do it. Even if the extra capability could be unlocked through homebrew, the wii hardware would just suck at doing it. Try a video with a lower resolution. Also, you're right. It shouldn't crash. You're absolutely right. I finally got around to testing the app. I'm watching a 720x400 file right now (larger than 480p). I noticed that it doesn't stretch horizontally all the way across the entire screen, which seems a bit weird. Flark 04:26, 9 July 2008 (CEST)

Very Promising

I started the application up and it was like the time I ran the initial winamp for the first time and thought "Oh my God, its making music!". Im going to need new pants.

The mp3 playback seems flawless so far, except for delayed responses when seeking. The quality is great. When playing video files the debug info will pop up any errors and scroll the video out of focus momentarily. I assume this is normal for now for testing, just incase people decide to complain about it. I even ran a 640 x 360 mov and the image looked great.

Yes, this works surprisingly well. I'm impressed. Also, I hope the verbose way it is running right now doesn't go away in favor of a pretty gui front end. At least not right away. It is very useful for reporting errors. You know what would be better though? Logging to a text file on the sd card.

Very Satisfying

I've been running some tests on how well each file type works. So far, MP3 files play perfectly. I'm listening to "Mann Gegen Mann" by Rammstein right now. :) Tried to watch an episode of Ghost In The Shell in AVI format: audio tended to fall out of sync with the video, and video speeds were variable, as well as audio buffer overflow messages bumping the video up and down. This is a great undertaking, nevertheless. I'm really looking forward to seeing its future capabilities. --Captcouch 01:43, 9 July 2008 (CEST)

Great work

Just tested it with some random stuff, some WMA songs, an AVGN WMV video, a DIVX and a bunch of MP3s, it runned flawlessly from what I saw. Great work. I got a CODE DUMP when I closed the program though. Makawee 17:35, 9 July 2008 (CEST)

So if you're interested, I'm always there with nice ideas ;) Send me a mail --ifletcher I think the MPlayer has a big potential I mean it supports almost all formats so it would be great to see it working with a nice Ui on the Wii :) Hope ur interested in my Supply!

An idea: subtitles.

I like this homebrew, just tested it for the first time. And I like it. But I miss one feature subtitles for video. We Dutch watch movies commonly with subtitles, so I really need it. Sanderevers 21:28, 16 July 2008 (CEST)

Thanks, I use it a lot!!

I really do like it. It plays AVI's well. One issue I have seen though is it cant handle shadows, smoke and other color contrast areas well, that area of the screen gets all pixelated. What do you recommend for MMS streaming of movies? I would love to be a beta tester for this. I tried figuring it out in WMP, but its not as straightforward as I would of hoped. Support for folders?

OGC modifications?

Were you ever planning on putting the source out to your modified versions of libfat/libogc?

I didn't put any custom modification, the only ones applied are the patches from sf.net -Fcorbier 19:33, 2 August 2008 (CEST)

Keyboard support?

Is there going to be usb-keyboard support and "console"/debug -mode (or what you want to call it)? It would be great to input files (samba paths etc.) with keyboard and hit enter and enjoy (like in "real" mplayer). --Quu 16:52, 5 August 2008 (GMT+2)

Small Bug

Its not an important bug, but there seems to be a problem concerning files that have longer-than-usual filenames. It either just crashes the client, or it disallows you to scroll through the files. If you're unable to scroll through the files, you can still go back to the "start-menu" (with lack of a better description), and you are able to scroll there. So it just seems to be a problem for the media-files.

You can just shorten the number of characters in the filename ofcourse, but I thought I'd at least mention it.

mplayer Dvd edition

Is the dvd mplayer an unofficial version of mplayerwii or is it an entirely seperate port of the same program? shouldn't it be on its own page or something or was made using this mplayerwii code? Pebls123 13:04, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
